That’s where the Observatory is where they filmed “Rebel Without A Cause”. James Deans movie. I watched that movie being filmed when I was in High School.

The L.A. Zoo is close to there. I hope they gain control quickly.

There is a small memorial to James Dean there. If you ever get to L.A. the Observatory is a very neat place to visit.

It was a nice place with a nice view on the upper deck. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the telescope. I was expecting something really dramatic and didn't get it; in fact, my impression was that I had a better view via my 6" Dobsonian at home. That no doubt wouldn't hold up with the distant, smaller objects, but it was my impression regarding the moon.

They just did a major makeover on the Observatory a year or two ago. Haven’t been to see it yet but I think you need reservations now. It really is a neat place to visit.

Hey, I saw the Pink Floyd show completely sober and it was still cool beyond belief. And I’m not even a Floyd fan.:)

The wife drove by and saw them dropping water. The smoke disappeared for a moment, then flared back up.

They are working on it. I can tell they’ve knocked some of it down.

I have about four good photos that will show the progress.

Video up next, a 50 plus megabyte 720p video.

laser light show that opened to huge popularity at Griffith Observatory on Monday nights in 1973. Laserium spread to 46 cities, but lost its novelty over time: “Its once cutting edge projections now just looked like mammoth precursors to the modern day screen saver.” There was no place for a dated laser show in the new planetarium, so the equipment is warehoused in Van Nuys where the father of Laserium, Ivan Dryer

“Run like H@#L!” was my personal favorite because it started out with the little laser and grew in intensity with the song. I wonder when they stopped that show. After the show you could go down to Ben Frank’s on Sunset for a late meal.
