it won't make a difference if Democratic leaders are unwilling to bring up a bill for an up-down vote,” said White House spokesman Tony Fratto.

I thought the point was to make America SEE that the Democrat leaders refuse to take action on this matter. Have America SEE that Republicans have an energy plan and that we want it voted on.

It would make a difference.

This is probably why Bush has been getting his butt kicked around in the media for the last 7 1/2 years.

Good grief. No difference unless you count the number of Republicans who would be elected/reelected, the number of Democrats who would be thrown out of office and the boost this would give the McCain campaign. Once again the President has chosen to play nice while Pelosi, Reid and company are willing to slime him and destroy the nation's economy.

I don’t think it would make a difference to the average voter. They elected the Democrats in 2006 knowing wht skunks they are.

What the average voter is looking for is the candidate that will promise them the most freebies. Everything else, including the Country can go to hell.

We are living in interesting times.

House aides said that while the president can declare that Congress must sit for an emergency session, he cannot set the agenda – only the leadership of the majority party can do that.
