i have a question for all the people here that paid more attention in civics than i did

son house posted the pro forma session schedule

Pro Forma Sessions—Agreement:
Tuesday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m.;
Friday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m.;
Tuesday, August 12 at 2:00 p.m.;
Friday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m.;
Tuesday, August 19 at 9:00 a.m.;
Friday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m.;
Tuesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m.;
Friday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m.;
Tuesday, September 2 at 12:00 p.m.;
Friday, September 5 at 9:30 a.m.

from what i understand, these are a (to borrow an algore word) ‘scheme’ to prevent bush from making recess appointments - they open a session and immediately close it so they can claim that congress is in session - so recess appointments can't be made

and if congress is not in session, cspan can't broadcast - so we can't watch the tea party

i posted this question on the live thread - but i think i got lost in the high traffic

for these pro forma stunts - or tactics - they open session and immediately gavel it closed? could the republicans vote no to closing the session? or make a motion to call for a vote to close the session? since they are the only ones there, they could keep the session open - or where am i going wrong here

that would keep cspan on air
