AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, Maha-Rushie! America's Anchorman, Truth Detector, Doctor of Democracy, and Chief of the Patriotism Police. He is the man who runs America. He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do--That's host. Get ready to what you were born to do--That's listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

Prayers for Robert and his loved ones, but I still wish he hadn’t let Scooter and BigTime hang in the wind for so long.

i have a question for all the people here that paid more attention in civics than i did

son house posted the pro forma session schedule

Pro Forma Sessions—Agreement:
Tuesday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m.;
Friday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m.;
Tuesday, August 12 at 2:00 p.m.;
Friday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m.;
Tuesday, August 19 at 9:00 a.m.;
Friday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m.;
Tuesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m.;
Friday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m.;
Tuesday, September 2 at 12:00 p.m.;
Friday, September 5 at 9:30 a.m.

from what i understand, these are a (to borrow an algore word) ‘scheme’ to prevent bush from making recess appointments - they open a session and immediately close it so they can claim that congress is in session - so recess appointments can't be made

and if congress is not in session, cspan can't broadcast - so we can't watch the tea party

i posted this question on the live thread - but i think i got lost in the high traffic

for these pro forma stunts - or tactics - they open session and immediately gavel it closed? could the republicans vote no to closing the session? or make a motion to call for a vote to close the session? since they are the only ones there, they could keep the session open - or where am i going wrong here

that would keep cspan on air

Check Pam’s blog and I have some links from last week i’ll get to you. Don’t forget Obama’s diaper donors a couple years ago.

There’s our hope for the future on the line. You go, girl!!!

Did Lindsey say that her teacher made them watch An Inconvient Truth? My stream was cutting out during that part.

Parliamentary tactics could be used and might even offer the wedge to get around the not doing business part of the resolution. You can bet the session leaders are given strict instructions but Roberts Rules might just be the foundation for “imagination.”

Speaking of Lindsey.

Lindsey Grahamnesty cleaned Daschole’s clock on Fox News Sunday. It was a sight to behold.

pro forma session - A brief meeting (sometimes only several seconds) of the Senate in which no business is conducted. It is held usually to satisfy the constitutional obligation that neither chamber can adjourn for more than three days without the consent of the other.

Goober can leave a lot to be desired in some areas, but I have to say when he’s on, he’s on.

can they insist on a vote to close the session? from watching the circus on cspan, i see those voice votes called for - then objections - and a real vote is taken - like last friday

i guess the guy with the gavel could just ignore the objection
