New Haven (WTNH) -- The sound of shots being fired could be heard at the annual Gospel festival Sunday evening.
It happened at around 8 PM at Goffe Street Park, where hundreds gathered for the event.
When officers escorted a group of teenagers out of the park to prevent a fight, one pulled out a handgun, firing it into another group of teens. A bullet grazed one young man in the arm.
The shooter then tossed the gun and lead police on a short foot chase before being arrested.
"The young men were being escorted form the park just to prevent a fight between teens," Lt. Anthony Duff, of the New Haven Police Department, said. "It's a very unfortunate event. This is at least the ninth year for the Gospel Festival. Previous events have gone through without a major incident."
Police recovered the handgun and ammunition from the teenage shooter. Officers are also detaining a second teenager involved in Sunday evening's violence.
The Gospel festival continued at Goffe Street Park.

So a guy the police were escorting out started shooting and the police didnt shoot back but gave him enough time to shoot, throw away his gun and get a head start running away?

Come to the real world. Turn on the local news any city USA and tell us who is in 85% or more of the crimes.

Tripe HERE maybe. But you’ll never see someone in the MSM bring up the questions that many Americans ask about violence in our society. So, in our own way, we do it here.

And according to the photo I saw, most if not all of the hundreds of law-abiding people there for the gospel music were black. Why not comment on that instead?

Why didn’t you note that while a few teens caused problems and one fired a gun, most if not all of the hundreds of law-abiding people there for the music were “white Amish” as well.

Because that wasn’t the point. I saw no reason to comment on what the rest of the audience did when the article is about the crime. After all, the article is called: Gospel festival in New Haven marred by gunfire. It isn’t called: Gospel festival enjoyed by all.
New Haven is a sanctuary city. Nuf said...
Well, at least you guys provide a chuckle when you spout nonsense like “Every time the media and police don’t mention race or ethnicity you can be sure it’s a Muslim, an illegal, or the ‘white Amish.’ “ And then it turns out the perp you’re talking about is none of the above.
