It’s on: House GOP’s oil protest to resume tomorrow

Said the boss this morning, “Seems to me House Republicans should be holding a public event every day in Washington from now until the end of the Democrats’ vacation to call attention to Nancy’s anti-drilling intransigence and her refusal to hold votes on the issue.” From her lips to the leadership’s ear. Just across from Boehner’s office:

Washington, Aug 3 - House Republicans will be back on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives again Monday to continue the unprecedented protest that began last Friday, when dozens of Republicans joined hundreds of American citizens on the House floor to protest Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) decision to send Congress home for the rest of the summer without a vote on legislation to lower gas prices and move America toward energy independence.

In an urgent memo sent to GOP Members and staff Saturday (“A Call to Action on American Energy”), Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) hailed Friday’s action, which was led by Reps. Mike Pence (R-IN), Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), Tom Price (R-GA), and others, and encouraged House Republicans to return to the Capitol beginning Monday morning to help keep the historic effort going.

Not that dinner’s over, I can get back here!

o.k. I’m a little old gray-haired lady and if I could appear there with a sign, would probably melt in the crowd. Unless I did something really outrageous, which at my age is out of the question. Grandmothers are supposed to be dignified, you know, even tho we all know that these days, granny is off her rocker!

:)

Up to 101! Omigosh, lots going on here while I’ve been busy passing the roast chicken. This keeps up there may only be time for pizza tomorrow night!

Hoping and praying it’s going to be impossible to keep up with the posts tomorrow!

One of the perks of being retired...

I’d love to be in D.C. cheering for Boehner and his crew as they arrive.

House GOP’s oil protest to resume tomorrow

How about that! And more importantly, congratulations for behaving like you actually deserve to regain control of Congress...

“Those truckers in their huge rigs are just more noticeable than little old gray haired ladies with signs!”

Awww geez, getting up at 3am is catching up with me.
The first time that I read that, I read it as,
“little old gray haired ladies with guns!”

; )

Actually it should read “I’m out of estrogen, and I have a gun”! :)

I’m pleasantly surprised to say that the Republican House members actually are calling her on it!

I think they were really surprised by the stunt she pulled. So they reacted like any normal person would...angrily. This wasn’t DC politics as usual.

Ok, Pelosi wants the Republican’s to ‘use their imagination’, well, how about this.

The Republican House should call all it’s member’s back to Washington for a gathering on the Capitol steps to protest the majority’s decision not to authorize a vote, up or down.

Pelousi can’t ban cameras and protesters and the media couldn’t be barred.

The members who are back home campaigning will get more support from their constituents being seen in this kind of protest, even if were for one day, than they would in months back home.

Not little, not grey-haired, but I sure am old!

I was reading this and wondering when the call to attend in the morning would come?

Now you make me wonder about old folks and signs being insignificant...LOL

I’ll keep reading.

Every member up for re-election....This is Democrat “Sock Wad’s” energy plan for your future.

If you mean just the House - every member is up for reelection. Would be good if the Senators up for reelection could make it.

It’s about time they took action.

Let’s see how long it will last.

Bill Kristol predicted that Barry would make his VP announcement tomorrow or some time this week because he's headed for the beach (vacation you know, Barry's beat). What better way for the Dems to steal the spotlight from tomorrow's Republican showdown than for Barry to name his VP. Dig?

Don’t put my friends the “old folks” down. We get noticed!

Still reading and waiting for a call to assemble on the steps tomorrow!

Dig? Whatever.

Be that as it may, there was a groundswell against illegal amnesty that snowballed and this can too. People are losing it financially and they've had enough.

Agreed

McCain would do himself a favor to change his mind, ANWR drilling is so obvious a winning issue,
And if President Bush really wants to go out strong',
a picture is worth legacy that'll keep Democrats supporters in gasoline till elected Democrats find a miracle cure.
Oil company executives would do themselves a favor and show the best places to drill,
and when Larry King has them on, rub his nose it it...
