Please how "nuanced" is Obama saying that inflating tires will be the answer to energy independence.
Hadn’t Obama ALREADY caved on the drilling issue when she was interviewed by Stephanopoulos?
Do you really think the Dems are that smart?
I said almost the exact thing last night on another thread. Great minds think alike Popman....It’s the old head fake game. Bush NEEDS to call an emergency session and get the deal the Republicans want on the table and voted on before this bites them in the azz...They can’t let the dunce boy get any positive exposure to this...
they also can’t get this to a vote on a Dem proposal because it will be chock full of restrictions. Then when Republicans vote no on the proposal, Dems and the media will scream to high heavens that the Republicans are in the pockets of big oil blah blah blah....
The damage is already done. Changing to support drilling now is going to be seen as just what it is, a capitulation. They may minimize the damage, but it isn’t going to help them.
I think you give her way too much credit. Good analysis, but the only thing that is missing to even give it a chance at credibility is Pelosi having a brain, which she clearly doesn't.
Her hammering away at releasing oil from the Strategic Oil Reserve is ample evidence of her brainlessness.
True.....but he HAS flip-flopped on the issue and it was days before the interview with Pelosi.

They seem to be in control.
If they aren't smart enough to do something like this, what does make us?
Cheez whiz, if this yahoo is not the MOST CONDESCENDING politician ... what's next, Obama? Something about letting us eat cake??
That was Obama being the assclown empty suit he really is
Do you really thin Obama crafts energy policy?
His wonks do that, he just follows the letters on the teleprompter and smiles
If this is the Dem plan, McCain should start predicting that Obama will soon come around to supporting McCain’s drilling plan. That should prevent the Dems from getting any credit for it when it happens.
"Caved" may be too strong a word.
"Consider" was the word I think he used.
Obama never just changes policy he moves like a chameleon changing colors as the environment dictates.
He doesn't have to take a position to endorse an energy policy that includes some drilling, he just needs to let enough wiggle room for Pelosi to introduce legislation that doesn't conflict with his statements
“Hadnt Obama ALREADY caved on the drilling issue when she was interviewed by Stephanopoulos?”
Yes, but it was just a rant.
The dems are now trying to re-position themselves better between their hard-left supporters, and the pragmatic American voters.
Deception will be part of the recipe.
To Nancy Fool-osi
Ambulances save our lives,
Yet none of them can go for drives
Without good oil.
You silly goil.
In other words (and the recent tightening in the polls tends to confirm this), maybe McCain's handlers know a little more than we give them credit for, and maybe the Democrats haven't yet regained their once fabled ability to fool most of the people all of the time.
In a way I think it makes my point, what else can she possible say that makes any sense whatsoever why we don't drill ?
When your position is built on quicksand and the only thing you can say is stupid you keep saying it because after a while people stop listening
Good idea. Both McCain should do this and Bush shold demand a return to congress. Popman, you may be onto something here. Hadn’t thought of that. Guess I was thinking the Rats are ‘honest”....yeesh. what is worng with me?
I don't buy it. The first thing Nancy Pelosi worries about — above Saving The Planet™, above helping Obama, above everything — is getting Nancy Pelosi re-relected. She hails from one of the most liberal Congressional districts in the United States. Hers are the people who honestly believe we can run the nation on Flower Power and Change™ if we just have the courage to abolish Big Oil. What Nancy Pelosi does not want to become is Tom Daschle, the "retired" Democratic leader who got too far out of touch with his constituents and so lost his seat. |
