Don't kid yourself. A lot of liberals would LOVE this scenario. For all their acclaimed "humanism" they actually hate people, because no matter how wonderful the utopian scenarios liberals come up with, human nature thwarts it. That's why they hate freedom - freedom interferes with their carefully crafted utopias.
I am not kidding myself about it, believe me. Every now and then, one of them just comes out and says it.
