EMAIL FROM ZIMBABWE - Getting worse
Email via Friend in south Africa | 8/1/08 | John Winter

Posted on 08/02/2008 10:07:51 PM PDT by stubernx98

Letter from Zimbabwe sent by John Winter

I reckon that these are the last days of TKM and ZPF. The darkest hour is always before dawn.

We are all terrified at what they are going to destroy next… I mean they are actually ploughing down brick and mortar houses and one white family with twin boys of 10 had no chance of salvaging anything when 100 riot police came in with AK47's and bulldozers and demolished their beautiful house - 5 bedrooms and pine ceilings - because it was "too close to the airport", so we are feeling extremely insecure right now.

You know - I am aware that this does not help you sleep at night, but if you do not know - how can you help?

Even if you put us in your own mental ring of light and send your guardian angels to be with us - that is a help - but I feel so cut off from you all knowing I cannot tell you what's going on here simply because you will feel uncomfortable.

There is no ways we can leave here so that is not an option.

I ask that you all pray for us in the way that you know how, and let me know that you are thinking of us and sending out positive vibes… that's all. You can't just be in denial and pretend / believe it's not going on.

To be frank with you, it's genocide in the making and if you do not believe me, read the Genocide Report by Amnesty International which says we are - IN level 7 - (level 8 is after it's happened and everyone is in denial).

If you don't want me to tell you these things – how bad it is— then it means you have not dealt with your own fear, but it does not help me to think you are turning your back on our situation.

We need you, please, to get the news OUT that we are all in a fearfully dangerous situation here.

Too many people turn their backs and say - oh well, that's what happens in Africa.

This Government has GONE MAD and you need to help us publicize our plight— or how can we be rescued?

It's a reality! The petrol queues are a reality, the pall of smoke all around our city is a reality, the thousands of homeless people sleeping outside in 0 Celsius with no food, water, shelter and bedding are a reality.

Today a family approached me, brother of the gardener's wife with two small children. Their home was trashed and they will have to sleep outside. We already support 8 adult people and a child on this property, and electricity is going up next month by 250% as is water.

How can I take on another family of 4 – and yet how can I turn them away to sleep out in the open?

I am not asking you for money or a ticket out of here - I am asking you to FACE the fact that we are in deep and terrible danger and want you please to pass on our news and pictures.

So PLEASE don't just press the delete button! Help best in the way that you know how.

Do face the reality of what is going on here and help us SEND OUT THE WORD.

The more people who know about it, the more chance we have of the United Nations coming to our aid.

Please don't ignore or deny what's happening. Some would like to be protected from the truth BUT then, if we are eliminated, how would you feel?

"If only we knew how bad it really was we could have helped in some way".

[I know we chose to stay here and that some feel we deserve what's coming to us.]

For now, we ourselves have food, shelter, a little fuel and a bit of money for the next meal - but what is going to happen next? Will they start on our houses? All property is going to belong to the State now. I want to send out my Title Deeds to one of you because if they get a hold of those, I can't fight for my rights.

Censorship!

We no longer have SW radio [which told us everything that was happening] because the Government jammed it out of existence – we don't have any reporters, and no one is allowed to photograph. If we had reporters here, they would have an absolute field day. Even the pro-Government Herald has written that people are shocked, stunned, bewildered and blown mindless by the wanton destruction of many folks homes, which are supposed to be 'illegal' but for which a huge percentage actually do have licenses.

"I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do. What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do." - Edward Everett Hale

Please! Do have some compassion and HELP by sending out the articles and personal reports so that something can / may be done.

“There is no ways we can leave here so that is not an option.”

You can’t be serious! It is your only option. Don’t make the same mistakes too many Jews did when they didn’t flee when they still had the chance.

How truly sad. A government gone mad.

With the power hungry dems insisting that we cut our economic throats by strangulation of energy, and the coming implosion of the US dollar, are we next?

At the very least, the Whites in Zimbabwe should all had fled back in ‘00 when Mugabe started to confiscate the productive farms.

“one white family with twin boys of 10”

Staying in that sh!th0le as a white person is nuts. Staying there with children is criminally insane.

You are correct. There may be no legal way to leave, but at this point, other options would have to be taken. Risky? Yes. Riskier than staying? No way.

This article has some satellite images from 2005 showing how houses have been razed and people left to sleep outside in the winter.

I'm sorry but I find it difficult to sympathize with a white family otherwise able to leave but who chose to stay. I just wonder if during Ian Smith's era, they were rosy eyed supporters of "home rule now"?

This Government has GONE MAD

And we have Nancy "I'm Saving the Planet!" Pelosi trying to lead us down the same path. I know how you feel.

Pelosi would say if she could be frank about it. They are white people we deserve it.

The liberals in the UK,the United States, and to a lesser extent Europe caused this problem. It was completely predictable that Rhodesia would go to hell in a handcart when the political arrangements were changed. I can clearly recall a 60 minutes episode where just after Zimbabwe was created it showed just how wonderful things were going to be for both blacks and whites. Well where is 60 minutes now? Why don't they do an episode about the current situation. It's as if Zimbabwe didn't exist at all. The reason they don't do stories about Zimbabwe is becasue people would realize just how wrong 60Minutes, CBS,BBC,NY Times, etc,etc were about the whole situation. The Carter administration also had a big hand in all of this. I could go on but I think most posters on this site recognize what a terrible administration the Carter administration was. Absolutely horrible. Blood is on the hands of the liberals.

This makes my blood boil. Although the logical and prudent choice is to leave, if I was there, there would be one side of me that would want to take those 100 thugs on with an M1 Garand. However, in that case, I think a better choice would be a M1918A2 BAR. Still, I have to think of my family amd would have to run but if there was a way, I’d booby trap the place for those thugs.

I remember that too. I got my first shortwave radio in 1978 for Christmas. Still have it, got it on next to me right now. I remember listening to the rebels at the time, "Radio Zimbabwe," as Mugabe took over in 1979. Even at the age of 13, I shook my head and knew this was a bad thing.

These people need to leave now. If I could I'd send them a boatload of M1 Garands and BARs but that time is long passed. Leave and let "Atlas Shrug" and starve those thugs.

...the coming implosion of the US dollar...

"The debasement in Rome (as ever since) was a reflection of the state's inability or unwillingness to finance its expenditures through explicit taxes. But the debasement in turn worsened Rome's economic situation and undoubtedly contributed to the collapse of the empire."
—Milton Friedman, Money Mischief

There are only so many ways out of the darkness. Unfortunately, most involve effectively defaulting on U.S. obligations through inflation or by outright defaulting. And, all political parties are guilty of burdening us with the present situation; no one is innocent.

The United States is a fundamentally strong economy, with its natural resources, its human capital, and its strong legal traditions that emphasize individual freedom and liberty over the will of the collective.

Unfortunately, certain interests present in all political factions (and who are already revealing their true colors) have denied us the use of our own natural resources, are driving out the human capital through excessive taxation and regulation, and constantly pounding away at the bedrock that is our Constitution and our law. Ultimately, should they succeed, the U.S. will be brought to its knees. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction, to use Reagan's words.

Never fear, though: there is always a remnant. The torch of freedom and liberty will still be carried on.

Leave, write off your losses, and then wait for the storm to clear away so you can pick through the rubble.

Yeah, you're right, the cancer has spread and the patient is almost dead, hopefully somewhere, somehow, things will arise like a Phoenix and get better. I've always thought Africa was better off under colonial rule. Cecil Rhodes had great plans to develop Africa with infrastructure like railroads and roads but it never got off the ground. Well, perhaps we might see that but I think the latter day Rhodes will most like be from Red China. I think the African decolonization in the 1960's was way, way too early. Maybe it would have been too early in the 1980's or even 2000. Perhaps it is my attraction to the Victorian Era but I always favored the Empire system. Well, that's water past the dam. BTW, the ones who will pick through the rubble might be the Chinese again.

I have never personally attempted to flee from a collapsing African nation, but everyone that I know about who has done so, has described it as very, very difficult. Some get out, some die trying.
