EDITORIAL - Yesterday, the Politico quoted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as saying, "I'm trying to save the planet; I'm trying to save the planet." She was responding, of course, to pressure that she and her fellow Democrats are experiencing to suspend a congressional ban on offshore oil drilling in the face of skyrocketing energy prices. It would be really wonderful, however, if the liberal congresswoman could get as energized about saving our once great republic.

Herein lies another problem: the vast majority of our politicos (from both major parties) do not even seem to know what kind of country the United States was designed to be. Virtually every reference made to the United States by our civil magistrates is that we are a "democracy." That's odd; someone should have told our Founding Fathers, because they emphatically rejected the concept of creating a "democracy" in favor of creating a constitutional republic.

Pelosi and Reid are lieing snakes. Got some time verify what I am about to post. I found this researching something for 1 of my ex-students in the USAF: Here’s the story. While the Chinese are busy building a off-shore Oil Rig and learning how off the cost of Mexico a little known secret has pooped out for my ancient formally nicotine stained lip from my pipe. The situation is a company called SHERITT INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION of Toronto Canada. They have been drilling and producing 60,000 barrels a day 1/2 mile off the beaches with slant drilling. That is the technique that Sadam used as justification for invadeing Kuwait ( Desert Storm )
The US Geological Survey estimates there are 4.6 Billion Barrels within a 1/2 mile of the beaches in Cuba and the Canadians have found it. So they are shipping it to South America and its being refined in Venezula and Brazil and sent back to Cuba while the Cubans are busy building a refinery on there Northwestern Coasts.
They estimate 14 months for the refinery to be completed. 2 years for exporting the gasoline to other locations...Who knew. Simple the MSM and there lackeys the democrats have lied to us. As have Senator Martinez and Sen Nelson. They have been drilling since Oct 2002 and it is producing and the Castro Brothers are laughing themselves silly. If the 2 senators did not know then they are totally incompetent fools.

I loved this article. Finally it is being reminded to people that the U.S. is a Republic. Wish this were being taught in schools. This is an article worthy of emailing to everyone you know who has forgotten American history and it clearly outlines what most of us learned in "Civics" classes in grade school. Something they do not teach today. I have tried to bring this up so often and most people under the age of 60 look at me with question-marks in their eyes. They simply don't understand and think I am making it up. It has been jammed down our throats for so long that America is a Democracy. No one understands as our Forefathers did that the US is a Republic with a Democratic form of government. But whoe...when you try to explain it, the younger generation just tunes you out and goes back to their ipods, or sending text messages.

What the writer leaves out, it is the voters who vote this trash into office. It is the voters who want something for nothing. CA’s budget is a wreck, and the voters will continue to vote for trash.
