Morris is an idiot. But he is a well-paid idiot.

Kerry was taken down over the summer NOT by an attack on his policies, but by what Morris would no doubt call softball attacks on his service in vietnam decades earlier.

September is the time to hit on policy. Summer is the time to shape attitudes.

By the time Obama accepts his nomination, we want the entire nation to know what we already know — he is woefully unqualified for President, is hopelessly incapable of real leadership, and would be like changing your light bulbs into plant hangers — sure it’s change, but when you are done you will just stumble around in the dark while your plants die.

I say it depends, the first candidate may be genuinely convinced that their original position was off base, the first to change positions then has a clear advantage.

When McCain changed on drilling, Obamao scolded him, now that additional drilling is polling at 70% compared to 48% when McCain switched, the Obamao looks like a desperate politico.

I disagree with Morris on this. These ads hit Obama where it hurts. He really IS running as a celebrity rock start. He really IS running as the Messiah. The best way to handle that kind of nonsense is mockery.

Like the little boy in the story of the Emperor with No Clothes, somebody has got to point at him and LAUGH. Satire is strong medicine, when a Clown Messiah like Obama climbs up on his faux pedestal, balances precariously, and smirks at his audience, all the while claiming to have the power to part the Red Sea.

McCain must be doing something right to be running so strongly at this point.

Morris is plain wrong about Dukakis and Kerry already being “destroyed” by summer, before the conventions began. As late as Aug 19, 1988, when Vice President Bush gave his acceptance speech, Dukakis was still ahead by 17. Bush rapidly recovered after what was seen as a great convention speech.

How can Morris say Kerry had already lost by summer? That race see-sawed back and forth right up to election day. It is true that Kerry got almost no convention boost, but Bush had hardly put him away by summer.

I think McCain is doing just fine. He's spending the first part of the campaign defining Obama. I think it's working just fine.

You obviously do not know what happened in 2006.

If policy is a brain thing...

And patriotism is a heart thing...

And if McCain wants to hit Obama where it hurts...
He needs to aim a little lower.

He needs to aim for Obama's instincts.

Cottect. Due to the media overkill the issue in this campaign is Obama; his inexperience, his lack of knowledge, his radical associations, his naivety. The way for McCain to win is to make this election a referendum on Obama. That includes going after him on all levels, including mocking his pomposity, evasions, and duplicity. Americans will ultimately vote for the person they relate to and trust the most.

That’s just it in a nutshell.

McLaim has no better policies than his opponent. Expect much bigger government, (Cap-N-Trade) 30 million new Democrat voters (McAmnesty) and tax increases, to fight Global Dumbing. (McCain Lieberman)

“There's no way Obo can win on policy.”

Agree...

His record speaks for itself...

BHO is a liberal

His promises and policy statements, which he is now trying to soften, include...

Higher Taxes

A Naive Foreign Policy concept

Naive Economic Policy including rejecting NAFTA and acceptance of Marxist “Liberation Theology” as a prescription for economic equality.

Pro Abortion Policies Including Support for Partial-Birth Abortions and “Execution by Neglect” to Abortion Survivors

Expanded Gay Rights Including Support for Same-Sex Marriages and Open Gays in the Military

Increased Gun Control Policies and Laws Including Banning Handguns and All Semi-Automatics

Reduced Support for Israel

Open Borders and Amnesty for Illegal Aliens

Socialized Health Care

More Spending on Social Programs as payoffs for Democrat Party Supporters

Conversion of Social Security to an Income Redistribution Program

Appointment of Liberal Judges Interpreting Laws IAW Their Political/Social Views

Only the members of the modern democratic coalition will sign up for all this...

The 2008 Democrat coalition...

Felons

Homosexuals

Illegal Aliens

Those who “cling” to the LBJ dictum

So true. That would be the solid core 40% that's going to vote Obo no matter what. His challenge is to get the brain numbed middle to fall for his act.

Both he and McCain are vying for that same august group.

Actually, my parents were visitng last night. My mom was tossed up between McCain and Obambi.

I showed her the two ads McCain has up right now on his site. I then showed her a clip of Obambi talking about inflating tires. She asked me for the McCain site so they could make a donation. She’d made up her mind by the end of the evening.

This morning, my oldest son (8 years old and smart as a whip) says “Dad, who was the stupid guy talking about inflating his tires to get out of gas costs?” I said “You were listening to us last night, weren’t you?” He said “Yes. Who was it?” I told him it was Barack Obama and showed him the YouTube clip of it and he said “He should be called Barack ODumDum.”
