A brave man to go to a black liberal audience and tell them why he doesn’t support affirmative action. John McCain is showing what I believed he would all along. He is the only man running in this race. Obama is a child.

I can't stand McCain's politics....but he was tortured in Vietnam: facing a bunch of racists is nothing.

Good for him.

He is showing courage but it’s sad that anyone has to endure going before a group like this. He wont win any votes in that crowd no matter what he does.

What’s the opposite of the National Urban League, NAACP, etc.?The Republican always must go thru this bit of torture every 4 years or be branded a racist. So it must be looked upon as an experience to temper the spirit - as fire tempers steel.

Agree — I don’t know why McCain bothered to speak before this audience at all, but kudos to him for showing up.

Like him or not, he is a grown-up, for sure, and it’s not due to age. I’ve known some childish people of all ages, including seniors.

We need a grown up in the White House and it’s time people woke up and saw beyond “hope” and “change” and, um, ah, whatever else The One is reading from his teleprompter.

McCain has my respect for going to speak to this group. He knew he was going to get no votes out of this group but he went anyway and said what he believes.

Affirmative action has been a crutch for way too many years and with the MSM’s annointed one, he has done more to damage the gains by blacks then I thought possible. He wants you to vote for him because he is black or you are a racist? Not about who is best but I am black is the reason to vote for him. What a Clymer!

Yup. The fact is that if it is kosher to vote for a candidate primarily because of their race, gender etc. then it logically follows that it is kosher to NOT vote for a candidate primarily because of their race, gender etc.

Your comment is the best I have seen to counter the argument. I am going to keep that one handy.

I don’t think McCain expects to win that crowd. But it does show his willingness to carry his message fearlessly into hostile territory.

There are a few reasons why to suspect Obama has Attention Deificit, the criteria for ADHD symptoms from;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention-deficit_hyperactivity_disorder

1. Often forgetful in daily activities.

Example: Obama says he doesn’t pay much attention to McCains campaign adds, yet he knows what isn’t in them,

2. Often has trouble keeping attention on tasks or play activities.

Example: Joe Bidens observations;

Biden wasn’t always defending Obama...

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/17/1204594.aspx

On Aug. 1, 2007, when Obama unveiled his counterterrorism agenda, the Biden camp fired off a snarky email congratulating him for his “Johnny-come-lately position” on Afghanistan, noting that during two Foreign Relations Committee hearings on Afghanistan and other subjects, Obama didn’t ask questions about the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or Afghanistan.

3. Often forgetful in daily activities.

Example: Obama says “ahhhhh” all the time when he isn’t scripted

4. Often avoids, dislikes, or doesn’t want to do things that take a lot of mental effort for a long period of time (such as schoolwork or homework).

Example: Obama stayed less than 1 day in Iraq to study what was happening on the ground

He wont win any votes in that crowd no matter what he does.

At least now they won't be able to claim he dissed them by not showing up!

We need a grown up in the White House...

You're right. We do need a grown up in The White House.

However, McCain is more of a doddering old demented maverick who whores himself out to the Democrats on a semi-regular basis...that's not the kind of grown-up we need to have wandering up and down Pennsylvania Avenue.

McCAIN IS STILL A LIBERAL and has not changed.

Why, then, do we CONSERVATIVES have to become LIBERAL and vote for him.

I am SICK of this game.
