For years now, we have been told by the man-made Global Warming crowd that "the debate is over" and that we all just need to shut up and do as they say "for the good of the planet." It was/is a highly unscientific, dictatorial and small minded attempt to eliminate scientific and other kinds of debate on an issue that Liberals around the world feel is of supreme importance. But, as is becoming more and more clear, their concern for the issue is rooted more in their desire to use the issue as a tool to gain more political power in the world than it is out of a concern for the environment.
This tool has worked very well so far so it is only natural that Libs would attempt to use this "the debate is over" tactic elsewhere. So, it is no surprise that yesterday, Nancy Pelosi, "leader" of the House Democrats, deployed this weapon in her all out assault on Republicans and George W. Bush. With national and local polls all signaling that the American people want the US to step up drilling for our own oil domestically, Speaker Pelosi, faced with the prospect of having to debate this point in open session, declared "the debate is over" and closed down Congress, shut off the lights, cameras, microphones and even tried to kick out the media that was there so no one could see what was going on.
And so we see that, in this new age of Democratic leadership, the debate is indeed over. Not only is global warming off limits from discussion, but everything Libs hold dear, including their nominee for US President are totally off limits to the point where the Dems believe they have the right and the responsibility to silence the opposition by any and all means possible. This totalitarian reflex that they have is on full display now and the voters of this nation have a very clear choice to make. Do they empower more of this totalitarianism, or do they go with a party that has, in the past, let them down?
Not an easy choice. But, even if the Republicans are still weak at the knees (and their actions yesterday seem to signal a possible change.) that would still be better than leaving such arrogant, power mad, tone-deaf, elitist, egotists who think only of their own politics and political welfare in charge. Question is, will the American public see it that way? Given current gas prices, I'm thinking they just might. We shall see.
Her fascist excuses are running out.
The People of American have spoken, so get the lead out, Nazi Nancy.
I was watching C-Span last night and a Senate committee has come up with a bi-partisan energy bill. The effort was headed by Kent Conrad(D) and Saxby Chambliss(R) (love that name). The bill does include extensive offshore drilling (which, surprisingly, was being touted by Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu (D)) along with billions of dollars going to research in alternative energy (biofuels, wind, solar etc.).
It will be interesting to see if the Senate goes along with this and, if so, whether or not her royal heinous Ms. Pelosi will fight it.
wait till disney world has a 20%+ drop in paid admissions. them queers is really gonna scream.
That’s why we need the ad campain, to help change the minds of the ill informed like Mac.
Not much difference between the two, really.
[Light bulbls... the freaks in Cambridge, MA employed all the school children to sell flourenscent spiral shaped light bulbs. They were in hysterics about regular light bulbs. Turns out those replacements are full of mercury. Who’s responsible should a toddler lick the light bulb his/her mommy accidentally leaves on the coffee table? Mercury poison is deadly. ]
The amount of Mercury IN the bulb is miniscule. In any event it is IN the bulb, not on the outside surface. You are as hysterical as they were.
How's this for a bumper sticker?:
We were told that not helping New Orleans was racist, right? Oh Nancy! What have you done?
Slate.com guy who was enthusiastically promoting the mercury light bulb some months back totally backed down when Stuart brought the issue to his attention.
Also, hearing major rumblings about the light bulbs in the MIT community... my hometown :o)
Not quite what I am asking...
Can she be asked/forced/impeached for her position as Speaker of the House?
to impeach speaker would require 2/3 congressional votes
That would make a pretty good tag line. You've got a good point too.
Cheers
Two rocket scientists if I ever saw one.
All fluorescent bulbs contain a trace of Mercury. How many millions have been crushed in land fills an broken in homes over the years? In fact,
I don't know if they are allowed at Kodak Park in Rochester, NY but I do know that back in the early 60’s a worker there broke a mercury thermometer resulting in having do nearly destroy a building to affect cleanup. Mercury is hell on silver-halide film.
I bet the park has such bulbs in use.
Pelosi was acting more like Mussolini than Algore yesterday.
[The sad part is ignoramus, McPain buys into global warming. McPain is an idiot.]
McCain is politically expedient. When the greens show signs of cracking (as they are now), he will jump the ‘green ship’ and see the error of his ways. “I was misled!” Yes he is an idiot. But he is OUR idiot.
Oh, I bow to the “all knowing”, “all seeing”! My thanks for putting me and numerous others in our place.
You are welcome! ; )
What you’re asking, is if Congressional Democrats, will choose/vote to change who they want to be their leader...>Bo)
I suppose they *could*...but I doubt it’s likely.
There are ten movies that could be made about 30 years of enviro lies, injury and death. DDT is only the most visible.
Paul Pelosi, Jr. (Nancy's son)
The dreamy 38-year old son of Nancy Pelosi and Paul Pelosi, Sr., is featured in the magazine as The Environmentalist for his work on San Franciscos Commission on the Environment, a position he was appointed to by Willie Brown in 2003.
The magazines Susanna Howe photographed Paulie (as he is referred to by the family, and will henceforth be referred to by SFluxe because, after all, wed like to be family) in an Oxxford suit ($2,595) and Armani shirt and tie ($1,135 for both), at the Cliff House. This despite the fact he lives in the Marina, and probably never lunches at the Cliff House, and certainly not while wearing almost $3,000 of merchandise, but its a fashion shoot what do you expect?
