Yesterday our Democratic lawmakers in the US House decided they were due for a break. With abysmal approval numbers and a “pro-US energy” bill looming, Nancy Pelosi decided it was just time to go. She shut off the lights. She shut off CSPAN. She shut off the mics. Where in the world could there be a more perfect symbol of Democrat energy policy than this “shutting off the lights?” The double entendres alone are worth millions in available political capital. Time to capitalise, friends. It’s days like this I wish I had 15 people with film and graphic design degrees on staff.

It is time for President Bush to take on the "do nothing, good for nothing" DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED Congress.

Call them back for special session to deal with energy. Make Pelosi and Reid miss their summer vacation. Do it!

It worked brilliantly for Truman 60 years ago. It will work just as well for Bush today.

Now trhat Obama has flopped and is indicating he will consider off-shore drilling, Bush should call an emergency sessions of Congress, specifically aimed at reversing the congressional ban on off-shore drilling and using the fact that now both presidential candidates favor it.

This will force the issue and either Pelosi will have to cave, or Obama will flip again, or the two will be at each others throats...all good outcomes that can be used against them.

In any case, McCain and the GOP reps should hold multiple press conferences placing blame for the energy and oil situation squarely on the Dems, and on Pelosi and Obama specifically.
