His moonbat base is gonna'go mental if he does. Once you win a primary on far left issues... to backtrack on your positions is the kiss-of-death to a campaign.
Oh, it gets better than that...
Obama's entire house of (race) cards is beginning to collapse.
Remember, he became the first candidate ever to opt out of public financing. That means his campaign must be funded entirely by his moon-bat base.
And now he's stuck in a lose-lose situation. He needs to embrace mainstream policies that his base reviles, but he can't because he needs their money. He needs both to have a chance at winning, but he must pick one or the other.

His explanation will be, that he still thinks it will do nothing short term, (keep those tires aired up) however, in the interest of getting along and working across the aisle I will go along with it to compromise.
(polls show I need to do this to have a chance)

I'm hearing that Warren Buffet is ready to ditch Obama if he doesn't retract his “windfall profits tax” on oil companies. To pay for Obama’s one time rebate would take every single cent the oil companies made in real profits last year. The real cost would be $130 billion not the $50 billion he claims.

Tell me about Obama and reparations. I read in a speech the other day he said to black journalists reparations should be “deeds and not just words” but I haven’t heard any more about it. Has it been noticed in any media outlet?

A key strategist for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., says the candidate’s reference to faces on the dollar bill was indeed an acknowledgement of race and its role in the presidential campaign.

Reason why I suspect Obama has Attention deificit, with DSM-IV criteria for ADHD(symptoms) from;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention-deficit_hyperactivity_disorder
1. Often forgetful in daily activities.
Example: Obama doesnt pay much attention to McCains campaign adds, yet he knows what isnt in them,
2. Often has trouble keeping attention on tasks or play activities.
Example: Joe Bidens observations;
Biden wasnt always defending Obama...
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/17/1204594.aspx
On Aug. 1, 2007, when Obama unveiled his counterterrorism agenda, the Biden camp fired off a snarky email congratulating him for his Johnny-come-lately position on Afghanistan, noting that during two Foreign Relations Committee hearings on Afghanistan and other subjects, Obama didnt ask questions about the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or Afghanistan.
3. Often forgetful in daily activities.
Example: Obama says ahhhhh all the time
4. Often avoids, dislikes, or doesnt want to do things that take a lot of mental effort for a long period of time (such as schoolwork or homework).
Example: Obama only need to spend 1 day in Iraq to study for a conclusion

I think he will pretend to throw them under the bus but I don't think he would do it because he's never gone against them before. He just took the convenient answer in offshore drilling because he knows 72% thought he was on the wrong side of the issue.

Obama.....”There’s no doubt that when it comes to our treatment of Native Americans as well as other persons of color in this country, we’ve got some very sad and difficult things to account for,” Obama told the convention.
“I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged,” he told conventioneers.
“I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it’s Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds,” he said.
