Unverified Letter Obtained By CBS News Urgently Requests Doctor To Treat Ayman al-Zawahiri
CBS) Ayman al-Zawahiri - the second most powerful leader in al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden's No. 2 - may be critically wounded and possibly dead, CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan reports exclusively.
CBS News has obtained a copy of an intercepted letter from sources in Pakistan, which urgently requests a doctor to treat al-Zawahiri. He's believed to be somewhere in Pakistan's remote tribal areas of Pakistan.
The letter refers to Sheikh Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri by name - and says that he is in "severe pain" and his "injuries are infected."
It is reportedly written by local Taliban leader, Baitullah Mehsud, whose signature and seal are visible on the letter.
The Taliban logo and the Mehsud's seal have been confirmed by experts as legitimate.
However, CBS News has not been able to confirm the authenticity of Baitullah Mehsud's signature and seal.
The letter is dated July 29 - one day after a U.S. air strike that killed al Qaeda weapons expert Abu Khabab al-Masri, and five other Arabs in South Waziristan.

My first thought on this new news from CBS is that it is a bunch of bull that has came out convieniently to distract us from the real news of the weekend and that is, that Nancy and the Democrats have managed to shut down congress for adjournment to avoid any vote on drilling. They would rather have us here talking about a possible rumor about al-Zawahiri then us talking about the Democrats being traitors.
The meeting on May 30 was extraordinary in at least two ways.One was the ability of a powerful patient — in this case, a scion of a legendary political family and the chairman of the Senate’s health committee — to summon noted consultants to learn about the latest therapy and research findings.
The second was his efficiency in quickly convening more than a dozen experts from at least six academic centers. Some flew to Boston. Others participated by telephone after receiving pertinent test results and other medical records.
Except for the circumstances, telephone participation and the number of invited experts, the meeting resembled the tumor board meetings that specialists regularly hold in their hospitals.

I hope al-Zawahiri isn’t counting on Teddy calling up his experts to help out, although I’m sure Teddy’s heart would be in the right place.

And Teddy would probably turn heaven and earth to try to help Zawahiri.....likely on the taxpayers dollar.
On the other hand, I wish Teddy to be well enough to resume his Senate seat, if only to watch as the Democrats scramble as they try to sideline him now that it is known for sure his brain is compromised.
