What's worse - cutting a man's head off on a bus and displaying it as a trophy to a shocked crowd, or fretting about what people might think about it?

They don't know what the motive was but they know what it wasn't? Somehow that doesn't compute.
I don't think terrorism was behind it, since his name was Chinese, not Muslim. But I don't KNOW it, and I don't see how the police or the reporter can be so absolutely sure of it.
No doubt many people would be stupified by a sudden attack like this, and would panic just as the passengers of the bus did. But is it totally out of the question to wonder why nobody did anything to at least slow the murderer down or inconvenience him a little?
But while authorities here admit they don't yet know the motive for the murder, they're adamant terror wasn't behind it.
If authorities don't know the motive, how can they be so damn sure it wasn't terrorism??????
I recall the same dumb-assed statement being issued at the start of the DC sniper killings and it turned out that it was terrorism although the official line still is that Malvo and his pet goat just went beserk for reasons unknown, but probably due to his Gulf War service more than a decade before and not to his conversion to the Religion of Peace much more recently.

I’m pretty sure the victim was dead before anyone really knew what was going on.
After that, if the maniac is keeping himself occupied cutting the guy’s head off, okay by me.
When I first saw the report I did indeed wonder why nobody made a move on the perp while he was stabbing the victim 50 times.
I don't know how accurate the information was, but I suspect the victim didn't have much of a chance after the first few plunges of the knife. The knife apparently had a sizable blade so the other passengers may have not acted against the perp out of self preservation by basically doing nothing.
They were lucky he was satisfied by only one kill.
