[London Mayor] Boris Johnson backs Barack Obama as US President
The London Telegraph ^ | August 1, 2008 | Rosa Prince

Posted on 08/01/2008 4:47:18 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

His endorsement of the Democratic candidate, against John McCain, his Republican rival, would usually be considered unusual for a Conservative.

But during his recent European tour, Mr Obama proved successful at winning over politicians of all persuasions, charming David Cameron, the Conservative leader, who he met for talks in his House of Commons office.

A survey carried out last month found that a third of Tory MPs want the Democrat to emerge triumphant.

But the Mayor of London is the most high profile Conservative publicly to throw his weight behind Mr Obama.

He told this month's Square Mile magazine: "I was looking at him on the news and just thinking what an amazing moment this is, watching his speech in Berlin and thinking what a critical moment this is for America and for attitudes towards what they can achieve amongst the black community.

"If Barack Obama can do it, it will be the most fantastic boost, I think, for black people everywhere around the world."

Asked for his views on the Republican candidate, Mr Johnson said: "Well, OK, I think John McCain has many, many wonderful qualities, but I think a Barack Obama victory would do fantastic things for the confidence and the feelings of black people around the world - that they can win."

Asked if his words amounted to an endorsement of the Democrat, he said: "Yes."

Mr Cameron has also spoken of his admiration for Mr Obama, backing his controversial call for black fathers to take greater responsibility for their children, but has stopped short of endorsing him over Mr McCain.

Well then, why don't we just declare Senator Obama the winner and skip that messy election thing?

Great. They got rid of Red Bolshevik Livingstone and everyone here was cheering for Boris Johnson,(a Conservative mayor for London hear, hear!). Some conservative. Guess in Britain today a Conservative is someone who supports Obama over Stalin.

Why do we keep getting stories by foreigners saying who they support for OUR president?

I don’t CARE who they support.

But, one thing is absolutely sure. They WILL pick the one they think will destroy the USA. That is exactly what Europeans WANT for the US. Destruction... taking down... failure... obliteration.

So, when they pick they are OBVIOUSLY going for the WORST candidate for OUR interests.

Either they don’t have a conservative mayor in London, or they have a clueless moron.

Of course, it isn’t like he has a conservative alternative to endorse.

You love him so much, have him over and nominate for the UK yourselves.
This is the typical eurotwit rubbish of trying to be relevant to an election they have not vote or say in.

Please.

I doubt any lawmaker in the U.K. is sober enough these days to make any fruitful decisions about their own national problems, let alone stand in judgment over who is the best candidate for the U.S.A.

I wonder if the Lord Mayor was asked his opinion before or after his First of the Day Breakfast Tea and Scotch.

The Conservative Party in England is to the LEFT of the Dmocratic Party in the US.

Having said that, Prime Minister Gordon Brown is Pro-American and that's enough for me.

He told this month's Square Mile magazine: "I was looking at him on the news and just thinking what an amazing moment this is, watching his speech in Berlin and thinking what a critical moment this is for America and for attitudes towards what they can achieve amongst the black community.

And this man knows what, exactly, about black communities in the US? Keep your white guilt in your own country. No other country on this earth has done more than the US to support civil rights and equality. And what did my father and his brothers get for marching? The female members of their families were called "typical white women" by a man who wants to be my president.

As for his comment about black fatherhood, of course he should support Obama because of his stance that black men be responsible fathers........I mean, no other candidate in history has ever been in favor of any kind of man taking any kind of responsibility.....its just so innovative for Obama to make that part of his platform.....< /sarcasm>

Well gee....

If a mayor from a country that doesn't allow it's citizens to defend themselves from common criminals, disarms law abiding citizens, allows muslims to take over entire communities, taxes itself into bankruptcy, devastated it's health care system with socialist bullsh#t and whose most famous armed forces was known for "buggery, rum and the lash"....

well hell, I'm going to take what they say about electing our President with as much seriousness as some spineless, kneeling, quisling at the feet of a muslim master.

Thanks for the advice Boris, yawn. Don't you have something else to do.... like cross your legs and look pretty?

So let me get this right: The Europeans are participating in our elections and the Mexicans are here demanding their rights?

Can a world government be far away?
