what about people that don’t smoke, and now sit at the bar longer because they aren’t being bothered by the smoke?

Adams says smoking bans should still be supported, because the health benefits still outweigh the health costs. Cotti recommends that smoke-free communities increase DUI enforcement measures to provide drivers with appropriate disincentives.

More Government 'protection', to combat a problem caused by Government 'protection'.

You have to follow this through to the logical conclusion: that smoking causes drunk driving fatalities.

Land of the free... my a$$. Property owners should be the ONLY people making decisions about what legal substances are used on their premises. Non-smokers (of which I am one), should find alternate places to spend their money if they feel their lives are endangered by smoke.

The evidence is consistent with two mechanisms -- smokers searching for alternative locations to drink and smokers driving to nearby jurisdictions that allow smoking in bars, say Adams and Cotti.

Huh ? before or after the smoking ban, they're still driving.

Let's see if I've got this straight...They drive to a bar, get drunk, decide they need to smoke, so they get in their car to look for a bar that allows smoking ?

I wonder how much this study cost ?

Lets not forget about the increased amounts of cigarette butts in outside of bars. Its been a real headache her in Washington, where smoking was outlawed in all public buildings, except for Indian Casinos, jails, and Prisons.

And there is a lesson for you. Want to smoke inside? - Get arrested.

This is a bogus study in itself to lend credence to another bogus study.

Much like the first bogus study, the second bogus study doesn’t even pass the laugh test.

If smokers can’t smoke in bars, they won’t drive 10 miles away and spend $4 per beer...they will stay home and buy a 30 pack of Miller Lite for $20 and spend 65 cents per beer at a buddies house, play pool, watch TV and smoke as much as they want with their friends.....then they will stumble upstairs and pass out instead of driving.

So smoking bans actually prevent DWI.

Where is my government grant check for producing this brilliant research????

That’s what happens when the Commie-Crats are allowed to perpetrate their Utopian Mao-isms in our “free” country. Voting for these morons is dangerous to liberty. I hope they choke on butts in hell!
