SAN FRANCISCO -- About a dozen members of the Minutemen, a group that patrols the U.S.-Mexican border in an effort to keep illegal immigrants out, stood on the steps of San Francisco's City Hall today to decry the city's sanctuary policy and demand that Mayor Gavin Newsom resign.
They waved signs calling Newsom, District Attorney Kamala Harris and William Siffermann, head of the city's Juvenile Probation Department, "accessories to murder" for the city's now-reversed policy of not turning over illegal immigrant youths arrested for felonies to federal authorities for possible deportation.
One Salvadoran immigrant who benefited from the policy, Edwin Ramos, has been charged with three counts of murder for the June 22 shootings of 48-year-old Tony Bologna and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. Ramos, now 21, was arrested as a 17-year-old for an assault and an attempted robbery, but city officials did not turn him over to federal immigration authorities.
"We are asking for the resignation of Mayor Gavin Newsom for his endorsement and support of sanctuary city status that led to the horrific slayings of the Bologna family," said Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist.
Hundreds of immigrants rights advocates stood on the sidewalk yelling back at the Minutemen and chanting, "Smash the border, smash the Minutemen!"

Saw this on Foxnews.
We need more people like the Minutemen.
Thanks for the SF protest report, Jim.
God bless the Minute Men.
Didn’t George W. Bush call the Minutemen vigilantes?
a dozen is as 12,000.. ;-)
I saw it also on FOX. Did any other stations carry it? Good for the Minutemen.
I wonder what would happen if one of Newsoms family members would have been the victim? Hmmm...
Gavin's only said the policy is reversed because he's running for Governor. No way that S.F. starts turning over illegals to the feds, juveniles or no. When the next murder by illegal happens, they'll play dumb and say they didn't know he was illegal.
Gavin needs to forget this pipe dream he has of attaining higher office.
The remaining family of Tony Bologna should file a 500 million dollar suit against Newsom et al for contributory negligence for aiding and abetting.
This is one of the few times I support a lawsuit.
How patient would SFPD be if the large mob was screaming ‘smash the illegal immigrants!”

Lovely.
We need another 20 million like this.
They have something against soccer?

Looks like y’all stirred ‘em up good.
Considering it’s San Francisco, those particular folks spitting on someone is likely to amount to attempted murder, not just mere assault.
