In fighting Jihad, America's greatest challenge remains understanding and confronting the ideology that provides the basis for Jihadist terrorism. Efforts to clearly define this enemy ideology recently have been undermined by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), and the State Department in promoting a "terror lexicon" that recommends federal government employees avoid terms such as "jihad," "jihadist," "Islamist," "mujahideen," and "caliphate" when addressing issues involving terrorism. The argument made by the DHS, NCTC, and others is that the use of such terms will aid in the "recruitment" of Muslims to join terrorist organizations, or will alternatively provide "legitimacy" to religious aspects of terrorist efforts.

Self proclaimed terrorist expert Steven Emerson is scheduled to testify this Thursday, July 31st, in a congressional hearing entitled “Foreign Aid and the Fight Against Terrorism and Proliferation: Leveraging Foreign Aid to Achieve U.S. Policy Goals.” Emerson has a formidable history of attacking Islam and Muslims in America under the guise of his alleged expertise. Those familiar with Emerson’s legacy state his lack of credentials in foreign aid and foreign policy and are concerned that his testimony will feed Islamaphobia.
The Islamic Society of North America encourages it members and all Americans to contact Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), chairman of the “House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade”, convener of the panel, and request that balanced, qualified testimony be included in the panel or the session be canceled. ISNA is concerned that Emerson’s hate mongering will deter responsible policy making, impede effective security, and detrimentally affect American Muslims.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate.

I am re-reading Atlas Shrugged and I swear that when I saw the headline my thought was of leftists, looters and moochers. I think that I am more afraid of them than I am of Islamists. I’m thinking that I’d rather be beheaded than live in the world that is sure to come to pass before my childrens children are grown.

Most excellent post...one of the few that I've seen that actually captures the real meaning of Islam to the world.
However, a few minor points to the discussion. Amsterdam is in the Netherlands, with 5% muslim population....it does not take 10% to get a riot going. Also, in the US total population is 1.5% muslim, however, that does not stop the city of Dearborn, MI and University of Michigan from showing favortism and bending over to accommodate muslims.
Islam does not mean peace, it means submission....as in the entire world submitting to Islam, that is the mission of the Religion of Peace.

The author mentions that the stats were taken from CIA: The World Fact Book (2007). The Muslims are getting more and more bold as time goes on so the percentages may be dropping for certain categories as outlined.
