Last update: 2:06 p.m. EDT July 30, 2008 WASHINGTON, July 30, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in response to remarks by President Bush on energy this morning at the White House: "The President knows, as his own Administration has stated, that the impact of any new drilling will be insignificant - promising savings of only pennies per gallon many years down the road. Americans know that thanks to the two oilmen in the White House, consumers are now paying $4 a gallon for gas. But what Americans should realize is that what the President is calling for is drilling as close as three miles off of America's pristine beaches and in other protected areas. "The President has failed in his economic policy, and now he wants to say, 'but for drilling in protected areas offshore, our economy would be thriving and the price of gas would be lower.' That hoax is unworthy of the serious debate we must have to relieve the pain of consumers at the pump and to promote energy independence. "Today, the New Direction Congress will vote on legislation to bring down gas prices by taking crucial steps to curb excessive speculation in the energy futures market. The President himself could lower prices by drawing down a small portion of our government oil stockpile, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. SOURCE Office of the Speaker of the House

There is a reason why oil went up 4 dollrs a barrel today, it was because of this press release, and Madam Speaker Pelosi's putting a wall in letting more oil onto the market, while she is jetting around in her 757 on a book tour.
Pelosi is a moron.
Dammit, George; call the lady’s bluff.
9% approval rating, Nancy.
And it’s clear she has no clue what the word, “hoax” means since there are untapped fields of oil we know about and most likely more that we don’t until we explore. A hoax would be if we went to drill and there was nothing there.
amazing, she really believes what her piehole is spouting.
If the GOP wants to pick up seats, this is one mighty fine opportunity.
Is this idiot woman for real? She is ignorant on economics for sure. A doofass on science. She takes up good oxygen. Nancy....go away....far away.
So drilling to bring down the price is a hoax, but releasing a minuscule amount from the strategic reserve would drop prices? I’m so darned frustrated, if I had hair I think I’d be pulling it out at this point.
Save the planet, drill for oil, dump Pelosi!
Precisely.
You used cleaner words than I was thinking of.
Plus a severe development in the Niger delta.
No shinola! The GOP could sweep the elections if they had anyone with brains running the damn thing.
*sigh* Can this woman be this stupid. It boggles the mind.
Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once.

Our “New Direction Congress” has pointed us in the direction of horses and buggies.
...'only pennies per gallon' in D-speak could be up to 99 pennies.
...'many years down the road' is because of the permit process debacle.
...If gas is pennies per gallon less than today many years down the road, is that not good?
She (they) truly think we're stupid.
I think that woman has a mental condition. She can’t really think that people are stupid enough to believe her crap.
Same here. I have several intensifiers I would have added to “moron” but they would be rather vulgar.
What boggles the mind is that there is absolutely NO ONE on the Republican side with the gonads to call her on her bullcrap.
Pelosi doesn’t qualify for moron. That’s insulting morons. Her intellect is beneath the moron category. I think she needs millions of telephone calls from around the nation. Capitol switchboard is 202-225-3121. Last time I called her DC office (about two weeks ago), her staff wouldn’t let me speak. I was immediately thrown into a comment line (File 13). The American people better find their spines or we’re all toast, IMO.
