Or just starry-eyed reporters. I look forward to the press pressing Senator Obama to elaborate: "I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."

Maybe not:
SUZANNE MALVEAUX: When it comes to reparations, would you take it a step further, in terms of apologizing for slavery or offering reparations to various groups?
SEN. BARACK OBAMA: You know, I have said in the past, and Ill repeat again, that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed. And I think that strategies that invest in lifting people out of the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow, but that have brought applicability and allow us to build coalitions to actually get these things done, that, I think, is the best strategy.

What would those deeds be beyond words? What else could he mean? A memorial? That makes no sense. I can only interpret this as some form of monetary reparations or expansion of affirmative action.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I’m looking forward to reparations I’m due for my ancestors shedding their blood without ever having slaves.
I’m so glad NRO has picked this up.
Right. Lets damage people who never owned slaves and reward people who never were slaves.
Let's not forget to compensate the Gitmo crowd while we're at it. That way we can fund the terrorists ourselves.
Reparations MIGHT be the social issue that would wake up the PC-crippled masses to the insanity going on in this country.

Huh??
Is the Obamination ready to give reparation to the decendants of thousands of white men who gave their lives in the civil war to fight slavery...yeah I thought not
He also was quoted...
“I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged,” the Democratic presidential hopeful said.”
Is there no limit to the depth of his hatred for America???
I despise this POS.
When Obama speaks and we kiss his feet.

Since he has no principles other than wanting to win and dominate all of us, and therefore needs to avoid getting caught in contradicting earlier statements that he can't remember, he starts many responses with this attempted preemptive phraseology.
If/when his polls slip and polling says he needs to shore up his base, the next time is will be: You know, I have said in the past, and Ill repeat again, that reparations are a key aspect of my policy to redress the grave injustice done to African-Americans by the Bush-McCain slave masters and their predecessors in the Republican party ...
Given the fact that he changes position on any subject a couple of times a week, how can anyone possibly take anything he says seriously?
Native Americans should consider the casinos their reparations. Not only that, some tribes were accidentally given reservation land with natural gas or other mineral resources.
One of the saddest "things", IMO, is Affirmative Action. It punished a lot of people who had nothing to do with the ill treatment of any of the groups it favored, and discouraged hard work.
I Hope the Indentured Irish Slaves get a Cut of the reparations Packages..
