China will censor the Internet used by foreign media during the Olympics, an organising committee official confirmed Wednesday, reversing a pledge to offer complete media freedom at the games.
"During the Olympic Games we will provide sufficient access to the Internet for reporters," said Sun Weide, spokesman for the organising committee.
He confirmed, however, that journalists would not be able to access information or websites connected to the Falungong spiritual movement which is banned in China.
Other sites were also unavailable to journalists, he said, without specifying which ones.

They will NEVER be eradicated in China, the roots go too deep into traditional buddhist Shao Lin practice.The Chicoms can't stand Buddhism or contemplative meditation, in China or in Tibet, or anywhere else for that matter.
What the Chicoms have done to the Falun gong will be the Chicoms ultimate undoing. The history of totalitarian goverments in China, and the secret societies of Shao Lin origins, such as the Hng Gar based societies, prove that.
The Chicoms cannot control the minds of those who practise in secret no matter how hard they try.Every time the Chicoms stamp down on the Falun gong, they create tens of thousands of new Falun gong, overnight.

There’s nothing new here. Blocking access to anything about Falun Gong has been standard their internet practices.
I will not be permitting the Olympics to be broadcast in my house.

I love it. I remember when China was in the running for the games and the IOC made this big production out of how they were only giving them the games because they played hardball and made them promise all these improvements to freedom of the press and human rights.
If anything, the chinese are even worse than they were back then on those subjects.
Total dog and pony show by the IOC because what really seals the deal with them is how much bribes and hookers were provided.
The only thing I care about now is that we go in there, rip them and the russians a new one in the medal counts, and then get the hell out of there. Especially crushing them in the male and female gymnastic medals. The chicoms are already busted by faking the ages of some of their competitors so its going to be extra special for us to beat them in the act of cheating.
