Jakarta (AsiaNews) – Police evacuated the Christian Theological Arastamar Institute (STT SETIA) which is located in an eastern district of the Indonesian capital after it suffered damages during clashes between Christians and Muslims over the week-end. At least 1,500 students were moved to nearby police headquarters and a local Christian-based political party. The situation remains critical and further violence between opposite factions cannot be ruled out.

In '99 and 2000 huge groups of Islamic "warriors" left soccer fields all over Jakarta and went from island to island in Indonesia killing thousands of Christians. Whole congregations of Catholics were massacred and their priests beheaded.

I only know about it because I was living in New Zealand and it was on the news every night. No one tried to stop them and there was no mention of it in the US press.

The one mention I found at the time was in the NY Times in their "New Round-Up" column. Like this article it was called a "Religious Clash" as though the Christians were equally to blame and it was a mutual hatred.

The wave of death was coming to the World, but the press kept it secret. Still do.
