PACIFIC OCEAN (July 23, 2008) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 1st Class Mark Rodriguez, from Sequin, Texas, shouts out commands to Sailors on his hose teams during flight deck drills aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk is taking part in Rim of the Pacific RIMPAC) 2008 exercises off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands. RIMPAC is the world's largest multinational exercise and is scheduled biennially by the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Participants include the United States, Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, the Netherlands, Peru, Republic of Korea, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. SURABAYA, Indonesia (July 22, 2008) Navy Diver 2nd Class Christopher Peek, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1 and members of the Indonesian navy dive team help Senior Chief Navy Diver Paul Adams don his head gear before a joint dive in Surabaya Harbor. The diving exercise is a part of a Naval Engagement Activity (NEA) between the United States and Indonesia. The NEA is part of an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces between the U.S. and several Southeast Asian nations.
