Mall brawl gang-related, Raleigh police say
Raleigh, N.C. — A massive fight that involved hundreds of people and forced the evacuation of Triangle Town Center mall was gang related, Raleigh police said.
The melee poured outside the mall as the crowd spread out, and an estimated 200 and 300 people were involved at the height of the fight, police said.
On-duty Raleigh police officers, Wake County sheriff's deputies and state troopers responded to the fight and fully restored order around 9 p.m., police said.
Shoppers were asked to leave Triangle Town Center around 8 p.m.,

Since its not politically correct to give the color of the perps (unless they’re white), its always good to give names, because thats usually of good indication of color.

I guess, since it was not reported exactly HOW significant (or insignificant) the laceration was, I just didn’t see that comment as particularly unusual or “funny”. Then again, perhaps it has something to do with having personal experience with a near-fatal laceration on my knee.
Wow, really? Sorry about the comment then - I didn’t know a knee injury could be so dangerous. That would change the tenor of the report.

Well, they normally aren’t.
However, you might be surprised how much blood you can lose, and how fast you can lose it, when your flesh is stripped away all the way down to the patella. There is also, as with ANY large cut, the possibility of a major infection. This is what nearly did me in last fall. Fortunately, my wife recognized what was happening and returned me to the hospital immediately. It took 6 days of VERY powerful intravenous anti-biotics (and a slew of oral anti-biotics in the ensuing weeks) to return my bodily functions to near-normalcy (and I got to keep my leg).
That episode taught me to NEVER make light of a large cut , no matter how good it looks after it is stitched up. It DIDN’T teach me to stop riding motorcycles, though!!!
In any case, I think it is common practice among press relations folks to NOT make light of any injury until its true severity is known for certain.
Well, now you know how dangerous it is to have that many highly educated folks in one place.
You never know when the pressure is going to get to them and they’ll “shank” a colleague for some perceived slight, or “bust a cap” in some guy who criticized one of their reasearch papers.
That’s probably the source of the trouble here. Roving gangs of “PhDs”, settling their scores, not in the laboratory, where such things SHOULD be taken care of, but out in public, at a shopping mall.
I tell you it’s disgraceful. These guys should be drummed out of the National Academy of Science.
It is, and it has. The Raleigh/Durham area has one of the most educated workforces in the country and consistently has one of the strongest, fastest-growing economies. Unfortunately, it’s also got a significant proportion of gangbangahs and illegal aliens. I live on the Durham County side of RTP and we’re absolutely drowning in illegals over here. And if you want the thug life, just come visit Durham “after hours.” This is, after all, Nifongville.

There should be massive punishment for these kinds of happenings because they endanger OTHERS there who are shopping with their families and minding their own business. We are being terrorized and no one has the guts to do anything about it from the top down! Our country is CRUMBLING around us. How sad is that??????????

I saw it as another instance of sensational reporting. He probably got a rug burn.
