Left-wing trying to use Captain Jeffrey Porter's false e-mail about Obama to smear all Conservatives

Utah soldier: E-mail about Obama had errors By Matthew D. LaPlante The Salt Lake Tribune Article Last Updated: 07/26/2008 01:00:00 AM MDT

A Utah National Guard officer who wrote a letter to family members describing Barack Obama's visit to troops in Afghanistan in unflattering terms now says some of the information he put out was incorrect - but not before the message went viral, circulating in thousands of e-mails and dozens of blogs. Capt. Jeffrey Porter, of the 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion, wrote in his e-mail that Obama "blew off" soldiers waiting to greet him when he arrived at Bagram Air Base. But the Military Times newspaper reported on Friday that Porter is now asking those who received a copy of the e-mail to delete it and is asking bloggers who posted his letter to take it down from their sites. "Some of the information that was put out in my e-mail was wrong," Porter wrote, according to the Times, which is published by Gannett. "This e-mail was meant only for my family." The Obama campaign reacted quickly to the e-mail, posting on its Web site photos, videos and media accounts of Obama meeting with U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Utah Guard spokesman Hank McIntire said soldiers need to make sure they "separate their private views with what they say when they're in uniform." "When you send out an e-mail, you just never know where it's going to end up," he said. "It's becoming more and more difficult to have a privately held opinion, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- so you have to be doubly careful what you say and who you say it to." McIntire said he did not expect Porter to face any disciplinary measures, noting that the captain appears contrite for having sent an e-mail with inaccurate information. mlaplante@sltrib.com

So this Captain who is in Afghanistan e-mails information about Obama and it wasnt' true. It gets forwarded and the people who forwarded it and even people who had nothing to do with it are guilty of lying about Obama.

How many bogus e-mails about Conservatives do you think the e-mail gets passed around.

Is it or is it not true that he didn’t visit the wounded in the hospitals?

What was erroneous that he said? Can you give me a hint? The newspaper offers none, and no correction either. Just suggests that the guys fighting for 1A better watch what they say about Obamessiah.

So he would knowingly lie to his family?

Sounds to me like someone “got” to this Captain. The Internet is unforgiving, chances are this this will live on...and should.

Since it was a person opinion of what they saw how could it be inaccurate? If that was the impression he got from what he saw then that is what it was.
Me thinks the Government put a little pressure on here......

I suspect he was offered a Pentagon six-figure job upon Baraq’s ascension.

Does it say which part was wrong.

ooH! I know the part about your career is over unless you recount the story, maybe?

Well, I know that some senior officer rebuked Capt. Porter for that e-mail a few days ago.

The story about Obama blowing off the troops is probably true, but Porter was forced to re-cant.

That's my guess, anyway.

I, too, received the email...once yesterday, another today.

The story about Obama blowing off the troops is probably true

Then if he did blow off the troops, why would we have to rely on this Captain to be the only one telling the truth? Is there an order for troops not to comment on whether he was really there or not?

We know that we can't rely on the media to ask questions or be bothered to verify this.

This is bogus. Why would he send an “inaccurate” email to his own family?

He’s just getting heat from the brass, IMO, who are making him retract it.

I think you already know the answer to that.

Sounds to me that it was true, but the NG told him to withdraw it or else.

Why would anyone write a private correspondence to loved ones and include “inaccurate information?”

The recanting doesn't pass the smell test.

It does sound like he is following orders to “deal with this embarrassment” from higher ups.

Then we will hear from other troops that he never showed up. The truth will come out but nobody who is right of communist will give a damn. All hail, Obama.
