She was a criminal looking to cut a deal to cut time off her punishment. It is unfortunate that she was killed. Had she not been caught twice in possession of a controlled substance, she would not have been in a position to choose between becoming a confidential informant or going to prison for four years. Sometimes doing drugs (even marijuana) has negative consequences.

The U.S. government is corrupt at many levels. This comes as no surprise to me, because I hear about this kind of stuff everyday even in my own town. I don't see an end to this kind of government corruption any time soon. It's only going to get worse, because too many people are not doing anything about this sort of thing. You never charged her with a crime. You made a deal with her not to prosecute her, a deal that is not yours to make. If the prosecutor had declined to prosecute her, then that's one thing...but you, sir, had her convicted before even charging her, let alone giving her a chance at trial!

I would bet that Ms Hoffman did not have to deal with people that used guns in her dealings of little bags of pot. If the police knowingly sent her in to buy guns, they should be prosecuted for manslaughter, as Ms Hoffman was a drug dealer not a gun dealer.
