Something’s better than nothing but the disappointment is palpable: “Everyone was excited about Obama’s visit. It’s a shame.” After googling around for details about what happened, precisely, I think John McCormack at the Standard has it right. It wasn’t the absence of media that led Obama to cancel the trip, it was the fact that two of his top military advisors, most notably Ret. Gen. Gration, couldn’t go with him because they’re technically campaign personnel and DoD regs prohibit political campaigning at military bases. Why Obama simply didn’t leave the two of them behind and make the trip anyway, your guess is as a good as mine.
On the media angle, see this exchange on the plane between one of the pool reporters and Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs:
Q: The schedule was for this plane, with us in it, to fly to Ramstein. By the way we were expected to pay for the flight, what were you suppose to do with the entourage then?

First black presumptive nominee with a chance at winning?
I find it a little hard to believe that everyone was disappointed when Hussein didn’t make an appearance! Relieved is probably more like it!

Subject: Obama’s Visit
Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service. So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.
I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country. If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

The reporters’ bosses aren’t going to be too happy paying for flights that go nowhere. Mr. Obama may be making enemies he hadn’t planned on—not that his team is doing all that well at planning ahead.
The CO probably answered the phone and placed it on his desk and walked out of the room- Barry probably gave twenty minute speech to an empty room !! ;-)
Given the gutting Obambi is planning for our military, I would think they would shun him.
Everytime I see that picture with Osama/Omama forming a crotch hammock, it makes me sick.
I’m so sick of this friggin assclown.
Obama: “I thought it would be better, and less intrusive, to send all of our wounded soldiers autographed copies of my newest book...... THE AUDACITY OF HYPE”
This is unmitigated B.S. Gen. Gration would not go becase he knew the "kind" of reception waiting for Obama by the wounded patriots at Ramstien Military Hospital.
To bad Obama did not go, perhaps he would have been confronted with what "genuine" kindness and sacrifice really is. Obama's lefty liberal version goes less than skin deep.
Perhaps Obama wold have learned something. But I doubt it.
Its too late for that now.
No general staff officer would fail to visit and salute wounded troops, nothing would get in the way, not even DoD regs about campaigning, for the generals wear 2 hats, even when retired, that of a military officer and a civilian capacity. Gen. Gration easily could have gone, bt for some reason he did not? Its easy to read the writing on the wall. Gen. Gration told Obama not to go because of the reception waiting for him and the words that wold have been passed ion front of the presss, and then Obama concocted the "rules and regs" story as a cover.
Obama? No commander in Chief is he.He just showed America that he has no balls of brass. In fact he has shown America that he has no balls at all. Stone cold fascist lefty coward prig. He doesn't have what it takes to face our enemies or lead the nation.
Obama just lost the election.
Whooooooo Hoooooo!
