This is completely wacky. Lynn Sweet, a reporter for the Chicago Sun Times, apparently can't make up her mind which version of the story makes Obama look better- so she posted both of them- at exactly the same time. Here's version #1 with this headline:
Pentagon tells Obama not to visit U.S. troops at German base because it would be too political.
Now here's the money paragraphs:
Though the Rammstein visit had been planned for days, Obama senior strategist David Axelrod said that that Pentagon notified Obama military advisor Scott Gration only yesterday or the day before that he should not come. The Pentagon "viewed this as a campaign event and therefore they said he should not come," Axelrod said. Obama has been at the base in previous overseas trips. He visited with troops--even played basketball--when he touched down in Kuwait during the Iraq and Afghanistan leg of his swing.

Now here's version #2 with the headline:
Pentagon tells Obama aide a visit to U.S. base in Germany would be seen as political
Now here's the money paragraphs:
Though the Rammstein visit had been long planned, Obama senior strategist David Axelrod said that the Pentagon notified Obama military advisor Scott Gration just before the visit that it could be portrayed as political. In light of that, the campaign decided to pull the event.

See the difference. Version #1 had the Pentagon telling Obama not to visit the troops. Whereas version #2 had Obama deciding to drop the visit. Which is it?
Good catch. Didn’t want Barry Hussein seen as subservient to the Pentagon, hence the 2d version.
The fact the posted both shows they don’t have much upstairs.
I bet they’ll pull the first.
They’re both running simultaneously. Note the time on both- 4:54 AM
I vote for version 2. Obama decided not to visit because he could not bring the circus. Here’s the correct spelling for ‘Ramstein’
.
The Obama campaign is lying to protect Gration's bruised ego by smearing the Pentagon.
Obama decided not to go because there were no fawning/fainting lovestruck fans waiting. Just battle damaged soldiers who would have told him go go to hell.
Pentagon officials say Gration was the campaign's point of contact at Landstuhl in arranging Obama's visit and "got torqued" when he was told he would not be permitted to join Obama. It was Gration who later suggested to reporters that the Pentagon short-circuited Obama's visit.
That tracks with what I posted earlier today.
I think they both stink. Is there a 3rd choice?
Probably because Obama gave multiple conflicting reasons for why he dissed the troops.
Yes, but not the circus—they understood that. It was his campaign aide, retired Gen. Gration that was the hang-up.
I think Cynthia McKinney is running as a Green...
Great find. They probably have the same time stamp because she over-wrote the old story without changing the time. She fully intended on replacing the old storyline with the new one, but didn’t know how to delete the old one from the server.
It all still comes down to Obama not going to see the hospitalized troops because his buddies didn’t get permission to go with him no matter what silly excuses the Obama campaign uses. General Gration eff’d up where an E-3 would’ve done better job at coordinating the hospital trip.
Both are lies. The pentagon simply told Obama he could not take his campaign staff. The visit was not to be used for political campaigning, so the Obama campaign decided against the visit.
Chicago Sun-Times. What do you expect? Its Coho wrap!
You’re right. Obama failed the commander-in-chief test on this trip.
Obama wouldn’t want to go see the soldiers. He spits on their efforts and sacrifice.
From what Carl Cameron is reporting the Obamascum knew the rules well in advance, tried to pull a fast one to bring in campaign staff and media, the DoD held firm to their rules, and Obambi went away whining like the little creep he is.
Time to get the real facts out and stop the smears of the DoD, WH, McCain, etc. I know, darn near impossible to challenge the smears of the Obamascum and MSM, but at least we have the Internet!
