McCain: A ‘Pretty Good Timetable’
NYTines - Cacus Blog ^ | July 25, 2008 | Michael Cooper

First the Iraqi government gave Senator Barack Obama a boost by seeming to embrace his proposal for a 16-month timetable for withdrawing American troops from Iraq. But could Senator John McCain, who built his candidacy in large part on his opposition to a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq, possibly be following suit?

“I think it’s a pretty good timetable,” Mr. McCain said Friday in an interview on CNN’s “The Situation Room,’’ before adding that it should be based “on the conditions on the ground.’’

For months Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, has railed against setting timetables for withdrawing from Iraq, and has criticized Mr. Obama, his Democratic rival, for suggesting one.

????

It appears the only thing John won’t change his mind on is Amnesty...YES, what he wants is Amnesty, no matter what his minions call it. Reminds me of the left calling abortion ‘choice’.
A rose is a rose.....

NYT is parcing the quote. McCain said: "He said it's a pretty good timetable based on conditions on the ground. I think it's a pretty good timetable, as we should -- or horizons for withdrawal. But they have to be based on conditions on the ground."

Actually it was all one sentance, the NYT split it up

Video here.

It may be a blip amongst those who are political addicts, but other than that, it is nothing.

By the way, I don’t think it is physically doable in 16mo.

They do what they do. We are hip to all that.

My point is why does McCain even go there? It’s like he’s shoring up Obama’s ever evaporating credibility.

To join: FReepmail rabscuttle385 to subscribe or to unsubscribe from this ping list.

This can be a very high-volume ping list at times.

We are exploring giving subscribers two different options for receiving pings: either to individual threads or to a single "digested" thread at the end of each calendar day. FReepmail rabscuttle385 if you are interested in receiving one or the other.

Take care to check the "mccainlist", "mccaintruthfile", "mcbama", "mcqueeg", and "mccain" keyword search links for related threads, since we can not possibly ping you to every relevant article that is posted. To flag a relevant thread, please add the keywords "mccainlist" and "mccaintruthfile".

Republican Commissar’s Warning: By joining this ping list, you may be subjected to the irrational rants and ramblings of McCainiacs, of "moderate" Republicans, of deeply confused conservatives resigned to voting for the lesser of two Democrats, and of countless trolls who simply want to meet a new overlord.

Per FR posting guidelines, we kindly ask that you be civil and polite in your comings and goings. Bonus points for being optimistic and in good cheer.

No timetable should be considered unless permanent US bases are granted in Iraq. An these bases should not be a token, but fully air and combat ready troops. If Iraq does not agree, then a stern warning that if the insurgents or a war should break out with the likes of Iran, they get no help.

Evidently he’s not.

He should not even be using the word “timetable”. The MSM has made that a Dem codeword.

He is so flawed.

I'll say. He voted against the timetable before he voted for it.

I don’t see the big deal, except that the msm is going to run with it. He can’t lett himself get cornered by the likes of Wolf Blitzer.

When the troops come home, the dems will get credit no matter when it happens.
