At 7 and 10, it was a ritual that they would read a book to me since I used to always read to them before they went to sleep or tell them a story when they were little. Ever so often at that age they still wanted a story read/told.
When grandparents were visiting, they could stay up later to spend time with them.
My kids always had a hug and kiss at that age before going to sleep.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure about the 7-year old but the 10-year old...is either really naive or really jaded (she can’t believe that her parents would ever get her anything).

I wonder what Christmas at the White House would look like with Obama in office? No decorations or holiday cheer? He would probably do away with the Easter Egg roll as well.
Probably would honor the Muslim holiday where they hit their heads with knifes until it bleeds.
