Obama Campaign in Tizzy Over Troop Snub (Three Briefings in 45 Minutes on Flight to Paris)
Friday, July 25, 2008 | Kristinn

Posted on 07/25/2008 9:47:54 AM PDT by kristinn

Barack Obama's presidential campaign has been rocked over the bad publicity Obama is getting over his perceived snub of wounded troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

ABC News reports Obama staffers staged three separate briefings in just forty-five minutes on O-Force One as they flew from Berlin to Paris today.

Yesterday, the Obama campaign put out two conflicting reasons for canceling the visit. One blamed the Pentagon, the other said Obama chose not to visit over concerns the stop would be seen as political.

The Pentagon has responded to reporters queries saying that Obama was welcome to visit as a senator and would be able to bring a senate staffer with him, but no campaign staff (or media).

While Obama spokemen Robert Gibbs and retired Air Force Maj. General Scott Gration are spinning on the record, NBC News' Andrea Mitchell was reporting that Democrats are spreading rumors that John McCain's staff colluded with the Pentagon to scuttle the visit.

Obama's campaign has long recognized that his weakness is the perception of Obama as soft on the military and weak on patriotism. His week-long trip foreign trip was designed to showcase Obama's stature and ability to operate as commander-in-chief.

His snub of the wounded and his campaign's confused and malicious response shows that they believe his image in the minds of the voters back home has been gravely wounded.

I heard this morning that Barack himself has been to Walter Reed to visit wounded vets without cameras.

I'd have to see some real proof before I would believe that.

If he went to Walter Reed it was to try to find faults.

When none were found he kept the trip a secret.

This is getting to be comical everytime BO and staff get caught in a lie they over do it and make it twice as bad. Why didn’t they just say that since they couldn’t take his aids in and make it a political stop that they just decided not to do it rather than lie and make it worse?

This international tour-de-force is turning into a massive disaster. The "Ich bin ein Beginner" speech was not as well received as it may have been, as it was rather vapid and scaled in generalities. It may have appealed to the Germans, but it kind of fell flat in heartland America. The Photo Op at the Western Wall, which included campaign posters (in Hebrew!), followed by the hissy fit about not being allowed photo ops at Landstuhl Medical Center, all begins to pile up.

And the relative failure to get a bump in the polls back home has to be a worrying indication.

Not too late to call for a conference of the Superdelegates, the Democrats' own House of Lords, to shift their votes en masse to the candidate who can still pull it out of the fire for the team.

Mrs. Clinton has to be doing cartwheels today!

Rush is saying how come the more Americans see Barry Hussein, the more his numbers fall. How come McCain is gaining in the polls while it's a non-stop Obamamercial. Rush says that if the Drive-Bys had so much power, Barry would be leading by 60 points by now. Rush says that this election will be a referendum on Barry Hussein Obama and Michelle My Belle Obama. Rush thinks that fatigue has set in. Keep the faith, FRiends.

No human being can be adulated like Obama has for the past couple of years can emerge with his head on straight.

I agree with you. Especially without any substance to fall back on. A great athlete or business person can fall back on the work that they do, or on their family, and try to keep the adulation in perspective. He can't turn to his family. He hasn't accomplished anything, so he can't resort to realistic self-assessment. His job, it appears, it to be a demagogue. Adulation is his currency.

This guy is actually much worse than I originally thought. And the media is making him into a monster. I get a sense though, that this Euro trip may actually end up being a jump the shark moment for Obama. He's overplaying his hand. I really don't think Americans are going to go for it. In the end, they'll turn to McCain.

Frank Luntz (pollster) was on Fox & Friends, saying this morning that Obama’s speech equaled those of Ronald Reagan and JFK! No doubt someone has his exact words, but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing!

For starters he stole U-2’s opening...

He truly is a legend in his own mind, but unfortunately in the half-minds of too many Americans!

Your lips to God's ears, kristinn. I hope the media continues to keep discussing the gaffes he and his 'staff' make, and it finally opens their eyes to just how far down the path they've traveled to abject socialism.

They've spent the entire overseas trip campaign making excuses for him.

There, fixed it.

Every day he has to explain something! I have never seen anything like it!

If you have crowds screaming that you’re a god, you’re going to believe them. Attention can be a dangerous thing to the human soul—I’d say it is even more dangerous than greed. I’ve seen it in action, and it can make one crazy.

THis sort of action is nothing new..

He was asked point blank when he visited the holocaust museum what he would do to ensure no second holocaust, and his response was “This isn’t the venue to answer that”... and of course he never answered the question.

Really Mr Fauxbama? The Holocaust Museum is not the place to stand up in front of and say NEVER AGAIN? I’d call you a shill, but shills have more depth.

Yesterday, the Obama campaign put out two conflicting reasons for canceling the visit. One blamed the Pentagon, the other said Obama chose not to visit over concerns the stop would be seen as political.

And the third (aka "real") reason is that he didn't want to be perceived as pro-American by visiting the people whose efforts and sacrifices have allowed him to assume his current elevated position of "messiah"-in-chief!

At least I don't feel so bad knowing this story Obama Lies About His Committee Assignments should have been the big one coming out of his little summer vacation. I'll keep it alive.

At first I was concerned about all the hype about this trip.

But he is really a walking, talking disaster. The more he speaks, the more asinine he sounds.

Great job, Barry!
