The screencap captures it nicely: Heather Wilson, smiling. Robert Wexler, mouth agape. On this afternoon's Hardball, the feisty, brilliant [bio: high honors Air Force Academy grad, Rhodes Scholar] GOP representative from New Mexico took on the duo of the combative congressman from Florida and host Chris Matthews, and walked away a winner. The subject was Obama's Berlin speech, and by extension his presidential qualifications.
You'll find excerpts below, but they don't do begin to do justice to Wilson's brio and the coolness under verbal fire she displayed. That's why I'd strongly encourage readers to view the video. Wilson kicked off her tour de force in commenting on a clip of Obama in his Berlin speech proclaiming that various walls, including one between American and Europe, "cannot stand" and must be torn down.

Matthews sure looks pissed when she doesn't bite and he then claimis she said there's a European "love affair" with Bush.
That's such a liberal concern. The European people sure don't seem to LIKE Bush, but that doesn't seem to matter much on SUBSTANCE. Chris is such a freakin baby, he looks so ANNOYED at Wilson's concentration not on People Mag-like popularity silliness but on the actual connection between Europe and the US, which has always had its ups and downs but hasn't been imperiled by the Bush presidency.

Ms Wilson employed a liberal tactic of filibustering and simply persevering to make her point. She would not allow the Democrats (Matthews and Wexler) to pursue their agenda of loaded questions and statements.
She did a masterful job of turning the tables on them.

You are obnoxious, but I mostly tune out people who have nothing to offer. If you have anything worthwhile to say on the subject of the article I haven’t seen it. The only thing that bothers me is that you should not be thinking about my nuts. As Obama wants to say to Jesse Jackson, “Leave my nuts alone!” :^)
For the record, I’m not one to care much about duplicate threads, but I do think it is better if people know about the earlier thread so that all FReeper comments on an article are easily available to everyone. I wish there were some easier way to link up old and new threads on the same article - that’s why I posted the link.
