McCain Veers Off Script, Talks About His Cancer Battle
The Wall Street Journal - Washington Wire ^ | 2008-07-25 | Elizabeth Holmes

The original draft of John McCain’s speech at the Livestrong Summit Thursday evening made no mention of his own struggle with cancer. The text made a jab at Barack Obama, emphasized the need for improved health care and vowed to take on the tobacco industry — but excluded all references to the Arizona senator’s bout with melanoma.

The libs will use this and anything else that he hands to them against him.

Dude, where have you been for the last 30 years or so? You reallly think those nice libs are only going to portray him as being at death's door if he mentions cancer? I've got news for you, no matter what he says the dems and media are going to spend the last two weeks of October talking about cancer, and age, and how McCain agreed with Bush once on what salad dressing to have, and how Cindy was a drug addict and sold children's organs on the Internet to buy Vicadin, and they may even have a 60 Minutes interview or two with the crazies who say he wasn't tortured.

Third ZOT in the past 36 hours. I missed two before that.

The Obama Victory Lap has really shaken the muck at the bottom of the bucket.

Well gee, what’s great about obama is that you’ll never have anyone around him imply that conservatives are bigots, or push global warming or illegal amnesty. It will be morning in America again with the black version of Reagan at the helm.

What I love is how it’s now conservative to accept an inept commander-in-chief and a couple of Ginsburg clones on the SCOTUS because this guy wasn’t nice to us for the last few years. What’s a lost war or two, a few million dead babies and a reversal of Heller if we can show McCain what badasses we are?

I would like to point out that when Elizabeth Edwards and Laura ingraham got cancer in quick succession, the difference between conservatives and liberals was clearly illustrated when the Freepers started prayer threads for Edwards and the DUmmies said they hoped Ingraham would die horribly and those who believe in a Hell wished her a quick trip there.

Now we have conservatives who believe it’s OK to make fun of McCain’s cancer. Thanks for blurring the line, genius.

If we want to lick the soles of John McCain in true Bushbot fashion, I suppose so.

I find it enjoyable when folks like you look at those who support McCain and assume that we MUST be slavishly devoted to him, rather than making a rational choice to keep the teen wonder out of the Oval Office.

Funny. My ballot does not have just two choices.

So you'll be writing in George Washington on Election Day, right? If not, why not?

Nobody here said that. The only (and I mean, only) plus to Obama is that at least he is flying his true colors, and we can see him coming a mile away. With McCain, he pretends to be conservative, but once he gets close, he runs up the Jolly Roger.

As for voting, I don't know right now. Depends on McCain's VP pick and whether he learns to stop mouthing off about how wonderful "God's children" (illegals) are and how we need to solve climate change.

Some McCain supporters (e.g. lexusppd) are off their rockers. Others...well, are picking the lesser of two evils. And, that is your choice to make, and I respect you for that. However, the existence of such a choice doesn't preclude the rest of us, so thoroughly disgusted with the present political malaise, from pointing and laughing at the liberal idiot with the (R) after his name.

Did THEY change????? YESSSSSSS.

Such a load of BS.

Let's say a guy says, "I'm always really safe around my power tools, and I would hate for an accident to happen." And then let's say that a few months later, that same guy has an accident with his power saw, loses some fingers and wants them reattached. You guys would say that he is actually, in his heart, a guy who wants to mutilate himself, that he either changed his mind about self-mutilation or always wanted it. He doesn't want those fingers reattached so he can make the best of a bad situation, he wants it done because he likes the sensation of amputating his fingers and will do it again.

Sound like a sane conclusion? Well, it's about as sane as assuming that people who would rather have McCain in office than the student council president from Illinois have given up their principles.

One pattern I see is that you’re not very good at nailing people down on the ideological spectrum. Bush 43 was not a move left from Dole or from Bush 41.

Bush 43 was not a move left from Dole or from Bush 41.

Now that's debatable right there. Per the the CATO Institute and other sources, Federal spending under Bush has increased tremendously...and not necessarily due to the WOT. On top of that, Bush's veto pen has been scarcely used.

With McCain, he pretends to be conservative, but once he gets close, he runs up the Jolly Roger.

McCain pretends to be exactly what he is: a right of center moderate who happens to be more to the right of center than the majority of the American electorate in the year 2008.

By continuously bashing McCain because he is not as conservative as only 20% of America is, you McCain haters are helping Obama, who is to the left of center of 80% of the American electorate, become the next Commander-in-Chief.

If you are not part of the solution in helping defeat Obama in November, you, along with MoveOn.org, are part of the problem.

McCain's clock will be cleaned five times to Sunday by Barry Osama.

Did you know that at this point in 2004, Kerry was up over Bush by almost ten points? Yet the Messiah can't get outside six, and Opinion Dynamics has him at 1%.

"Hey you...Yeah you, American in Tokyo! Thanks so much! You are the man! Come down here and give me a fist bump, big guy!"
