Not to get too involved with the pro-Savage/anti-Savage argument happening on this thread, but I agree that on the surface, Savage "flip flops" alot. It only appears so though, imo.

He's an emotional guy that loves his country and wears his heart on his sleeve, and that is bound to produce a lot of points that might appear to differ from one day to the next.

For instance, after Nick berg had his head cut off on videotape while surrounded by a bunch of chanting muslim satanists, Savage wanted Bush to level the entire city of Falujah and deal with the ramifications of that later. Then, after no one seemed to really care all that much about what happened to Berg, he took his frustrations out on Bush. So what? Politics is an ever fluid environment. Somedays, maybe a politician does something Savage can respect, and he will give them props, and the next, they will do something stupid, and he will rip them to shreds. That's just as it should be. Implying that Savage isn't a "conservative" is ludicrous though, at least imo. The first time I ever heard him, he was ripping Bush about something and I thought he was a liberal. The next time, he was ripping leftists and protecting Bush, and I realized that the guy is just a conservative that doesn't have his mind on autopilot when it comes to defending everyone and everything under the Republican party banner.

Great job, Savage. Keep up the great work. When Dems AND Repubs both hate your guts, you know you're doing something right.

Well said Smedley, but the Savage haters are too blinded by hate to embrace the ‘truth’.

RE: "a conservative that doesn't have his mind on autopilot when it comes to defending everyone and everything under the Republican party banner."

That's a good point and in general I agree with your comments about Savage and his show. I've listened to Savage almost from the day he started on local radio in S.F. Ditto Rush BTW, since the very first day he started on local radio in Sacramento.

Savage nor any of us need a party to tell what and how to think, if the party is wrong then it is our duty to not support it. It they are downright hostile as I have experienced vis-a-vis Goldwater then it's time to separate.

Or on matters like disrespecting our heritage as a Nation of laws not men; the Republican Party is wrong -- no matter how important docile, cheap and taxpayer subsidized ILLEGAL alien labor is for some Republicans.

The fundamental flaw with Weiner is his constant attacks on other Conservatives. When I first tuned into him, I was a fan for about 2 weeks (yes, I'm a slow learner). I must have been lucky to have missed his attacks on other Conservative talkers at that time, because after a while, I would hear him attack other Conservatives as much as his attacks on "borders, language, culture", Islamofascism, etc.

Then I would notice his inconsistencies in his statements. He would completely contradict himself from day to day. I soon realized that this guy has a real mental problem and an embarrassment to hard core Conservatives like myself.

Probably a good percentage of his listeners are like "rubber neckers" just staring at an accident as they go by.

Another certain percentage of his listeners are real fans who place him on an unjustified pedestal. Some of them are so consumed by their devotion to Weiner that they employ the same classless traits.
