Libertarian appeals to decisive voters [raising the Barr for RINOs]
The Concord Monitor, Concord, NH ^ | 2008-07-23 | Lauren R. Dorgan

Squeezing his thumb and forefinger together in the back of a Manchester bar last night, Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr told a crowd of 80 that when it counts, there's that much difference between the Republicans and Democrats.

Americans, he argued, are looking for something new.

"The definition of throwing your vote away is to go into that voting booth and vote for one of two parties that will not change the direction this country's going in," Barr told a crowd of about 80 at Murphy's Taproom. "And that's the Republicans or Democrats."

There's even less difference between Bob Barr and a douchebag.

Bobb Barr while at USC in 1967 joined the Young Democrats of America, and rallied against the Vietnam War.

His parents disapproved, and threatened to cut off financial support if he continued his “flaming liberal” activities

On the Colbert Report on June 4, 2008, Barr confirmed that he now supports ending marijuana prohibition, as well as the War on Drugs

At the 2008 Libertarian National Convention, he apologized for the part of the Defense of Marriage Act which prevents the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages ( Barr supports same sex marriage)

Barr has called for withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq, leaving no permanent military bases.

A press release from Barr’s presidential campaign stated: “The next president should commit to a speedy and complete withdrawal from Iraq, and tell the Iraqi people that the U.S. troops will be going home

Barr Does Not support the Patriot Act which has kept us from further attacks since 9/11

Barr has been a vocal opponent of President George W. Bush’s claim of authorization to wiretap transnational phone calls without individual judicial license. (Another favorite of the left.)

More recently, Barr has become a prominent member of the American Civil Liberties Union, sometimes doing paid consulting on privacy issues.

Fought to prevent State and local law enforcement from going after illegals saying it was a ‘federal only’ responsibility
and is for amnesty.

Barr had acquiesced to his then-wife having an abortion in 1983.
He had also invoked a legal privilege during his 1985 divorce proceeding so he could refuse to answer questions on whether he’d cheated on his second wife with the woman who is now his third.”

The third party pretends Obama will close the border and will put Conservative judges up.

The third party pretends SDS Marxists Bill Ayers and Berdene Dohrn are June and Ward Clever

The third party pretends Marxist Rev. Wright is Billy Graham

The third party pretends Obama will be the conservative
they always wanted.

As that is who they will get.

This post needs to be posted here again and again. Without the second part is fine too.

Ever since he wents and drank the LP kool-aid, there's not a dime's worth of difference between Bob Barr and Ron Paul, that's for sure.

I have to wonder if the REAL Bob Barr, the unabashedly pro-life, pro-gun, pro-family, pro-security conservative warrior who relentlessly pursued Clinton in the 90s is being locked in a basement somewhere while this gay friendly, Gorebull warming advocate, surrender monkey lookalike kook takes his place on the campaign trail. You ever notice how much Bob Barr is looking and sounding like Jerimah Wright these days?

Oh come on, your statement sounds as stupid as Barr's. If Al Gore's position on guns was anywhere close to Bob Barr, he would have won West Virgina.

Just because Barr makes delusional statements that anyone who disagrees with him is a carbon copy of the Dems, it doesn't mean you have to hurl the same goofy arguement back at him.

Barr is a kook who has sold out to legalize crack party, I agree, but that doesn't mean he's a clone of your typical Democrat.

Barr is a Greenie like Gore, anti war like Gore, both want to legalize drugs, for gay marriage, and the list goes on.

Someone should ask flip-floppy Barr if George voters were "throwing their vote away" when they elected HIM from 1994 to 2002. After all, according to Barr there would have been "no difference" in how they were governed if voters had elected a RAT to serve that district. Socialist Dem Buddy Darden would have done just a good a job representing the district as you, right Bob? Tom Foley would have taken the country in the same direction as Newt Gingrich, is that right?

I don't like Barr because of his recent antics with global warming, but anyone who disagrees with this is a moron. You do realize that over 80% of freepers think the drug war is retarded, right?

Ron Paul would never whore himself out to the global warming crowd.

I’m not a fan of Barr, but I feel some of your points need to be addressed:

“Barr has called for withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq, leaving no permanent military bases.”

Why would need permament bases in the region? So we can continue to launch attacks at countries in the middle east? I don’t agree that we should just withdraw, but if Iraq is really our ally and we have the need to use their territory as a staging ground for some future war, then they shouldn’t mind letting us do that.

“Barr Does Not support the Patriot Act which has kept us from further attacks since 9/11”

This legislation is a blatant attack on civil liberties and while it MAY be true that it has helped prevent attacks, it IS true that is has walked over liberty to do it. As Frankiln said, “Those who would give up liberty for a little temporary security deserve neither and will lose both,”

“Barr has been a vocal opponent of President George W. Bush’s claim of authorization to wiretap transnational phone calls without individual judicial license. (Another favorite of the left.)”

Don’t we have FISA for this? Laws allow 72 hours after the event to obtain a warrant. That’s completely reasonable. Is the issue that the Bush administration isn’t getting those warrants or that Barr is against after-the-fact warrants?

Very true. There’s much that’s different from Barr and Paul.

Aside from the fact Barr endorses Gorebull warming and disavows the racist kooks that Ron Paul's camp said "he can't help if they happen to support him", what other differences are there?

The Bob Barr of 2008 is quite different from the Bob Barr of 1998. I wish we could put the two Barr's in a debate because the conservative one from 10 years ago would kick this sellout's butt.
