Fenton, MI July 23, 2008 In a statement released today by Americas Independent Party, Chairman Tom Hoefling welcomed Californias American Independent Party to the growing ranks of AIP state affiliates.
Hoefling, commenting in the wake of a statement from the office of the California Secretary of State recognizing Edward C. Noonan as the rightful chairman of the American Independent Party and the legitimacy of the actions of the July 5th State Convention in Sacramento, said, We gratefully accept the AIP State Central Committees decision to affiliate nationally with us. We share a common bond based on faith in God and a fundamental respect for Americas founding principles. We have the utmost confidence that the leaders of the American Independent Party share our vision for rebuilding politics in this country from the ground up. The California AIP is now the cornerstone of the new national AIP and the vanguard of the historic next stage of the modern conservative movement.
Americas Independent Party is a conservative pro-life political party that stands for constitutionally limited government, national sovereignty, secure borders, economic liberty, and a Reaganesque peace through strength national defense and foreign policy. Americas Independent Party endorses or nominates candidates for public office based on a proven adherence to constitutional principle, not mere party labels.
Additionally, Hoefling praised the American Independent Partys nomination of former Reagan Assistant Secretary of State Alan Keyes for President, saying, With the complete failure of leadership in the Republican Party, its time for a new beginning for principled conservatives. Alan Keyes is laying the groundwork for the long-term revival in America of government of, by, and for the people. Thats why an overwhelming majority of us support him, and are working to place him on the ballot in as many states as possible, either as a party nominee or as an Independent candidate. The American people deserve to have a true conservative choice in November, not just another liberal echo.

Keyes?
Thank God for comic relief.
Seriously, Keyes?
LOL
If California conservatives show up to vote for Keyes, they'll vote for down-ticket conservative Republican congressmen.
Chances are they'll stay away in droves for McCain.
If I was going to start a national political party just about the last person I would nominate would be Keyes. Gawd man don’t you know among conservatives he is considered a joke?
Since so much power in DC is apportioned based on the party in majority power, it makes sense to establish a majority party rather than just endorsing congressmen in both parties while conceding Congressional Leadership to hard Left Democrats.
Laugh all you want. I don’t care.
I know him, and he’s the smartest individual I’ve ever met. And no one has stood fast for what I believe in for decades like he has. In the face of folks who are even nastier than you’re being.
Unity?
Who's at the top of the ticket shouldn't matter if the other Congressional names are going to be ticked.
I voted for Keyes (who was not my first choice but someone I could go with over McCain or Huckabee by the time the primary came to my state).
There are 2 candidates in this race. Only 2. Anything else is a protest vote as mine was. I do not consider my vote wasted. I also do not see any upside to enabling Obama to be victorious.
McCain is where he is because Democrats helped get him there. He is still a better presidential candidate than Obama. McCain may not even make it four years, Obama barring unforeseen circumstances, most assuredly will. Possibly 8 years. I don't think anyone is predicting 8 years of McCain.
Only if your definition of "conservative" includes folks like John McCain.
Alan Keyes, or Alicia Keyes?
This isn’t an Onion article?
He must have at least 8 or 9 supporters left.
As stated above, I don't care if he is or not.
Your attachment of the loaded word consultant to what I said has nothing to do with the reality of the formation of the AIP. Nothing.
Based upon your wording of post #15, I don't believe the use of the work consultant was "loaded". Does "Lending his mind" mean his in, or helping out?
The kind of consultation Dr. Keyes has provided to our efforts is of the sort that you yourself could access personally twice a week if you wanted to, when he makes himself available to folks on national conference calls.
The tone of that doesn't really endear me to your point. Instead of saying nicely, "hey y'all, check this out.. [insert contact info for people like me that don't go to AlanKeyes.com on a regular basis], you need to make it sound like I'm a fool for not knowing how to dial a random number and listen to what Alan has to say.
You're mistaken. There was no real choice. It wasn't allowed this time around.
Looks like conservatives may actually NOW have a choice in this election for President.
Keyes is not a conservative, he is a nut.
I think you could power a city on his vanity and self delusion.
Are you sure this isn’t an Onion article?
We’re trying. That’s really all I’ve been trying to make possible this whole election.
It’s a joke alright, but the joke is on those poor people who think they are helping the conservative movement by supporting a nut.
Not sure if this is like Charlie Brown kicking a football, or Linus waiting for the great pumpkin.
Either way, psychiatric help is needed.
Keyes?
LOL
Everyone might want to note that the Republicans now act just like the Democrats. No discussion of foundational principles whatsoever. All they’ve got are fear and personal attacks.
I remember schoolyard bullies. They loved to pour out the vitriol until some little wiry kid kicked their butts. They got a whole lot quieter after that.
I’d rather vote for the possibility to help build a real conservative party rather than waste that vote on uber liberal Bob Do...er John McCain.
