Fenton, MI – July 23, 2008 – In a statement released today by America’s Independent Party, Chairman Tom Hoefling welcomed California’s American Independent Party to the growing ranks of AIP state affiliates.

Hoefling, commenting in the wake of a statement from the office of the California Secretary of State recognizing Edward C. Noonan as the rightful chairman of the American Independent Party and the legitimacy of the actions of the July 5th State Convention in Sacramento, said, “We gratefully accept the AIP State Central Committee’s decision to affiliate nationally with us. We share a common bond based on faith in God and a fundamental respect for America’s founding principles. We have the utmost confidence that the leaders of the American Independent Party share our vision for rebuilding politics in this country from the ground up. The California AIP is now the cornerstone of the new national AIP and the vanguard of the historic next stage of the modern conservative movement.”

America’s Independent Party is a conservative pro-life political party that stands for constitutionally limited government, national sovereignty, secure borders, economic liberty, and a Reaganesque “peace through strength” national defense and foreign policy. America’s Independent Party endorses or nominates candidates for public office based on a proven adherence to constitutional principle, not mere party labels.

Additionally, Hoefling praised the American Independent Party’s nomination of former Reagan Assistant Secretary of State Alan Keyes for President, saying, “With the complete failure of leadership in the Republican Party, it’s time for a new beginning for principled conservatives. Alan Keyes is laying the groundwork for the long-term revival in America of government of, by, and for the people. That’s why an overwhelming majority of us support him, and are working to place him on the ballot in as many states as possible, either as a party nominee or as an Independent candidate. The American people deserve to have a true conservative choice in November, not just another liberal echo.”

How about some history. George Wallace was the candidate of the AIP in 1968. It then devolved into mostly old Burchers and nuts.

I see some things haven’t changed. They have nominated the modern day Harold Stassen in Alan “name your election” Keyes. God, who is the VEEP? Duncan Hunter.

Now back to more serious conversations.

Well, it's actually grassroots regular folks who are building the party. Alan has offered his brilliant mind and his vast experience in the service of helping build the party into the new home of conservatism.

Post #1 says he's the nominee, now you're implying he's a consultant.

Please clarify

He is being paid to be the nominee.

He’s now the nominee of California’s American Independent Party.

In a couple of other states he will be on the ballot as the nominee of the new AIP state affiliates.

In most states, he will be running as an Independent.

This is all necessary because of the 50-state mishmash of requirements to get on the ballot.

That’s simply a malicious lie.

I thought you had more important things to do?

Keyes is a professional candidate. You have to pay him. This isn’t a political party it is a club and Keyes is the after dinner speaker.

I would prefer winning to putting out press releases showing you have nominated a fool. The Green Party just did that with that socialist loon McKinney. Why don’t you meet at a local pub for a wake of the AIP and get to work against Obama?

He is being paid to be the nominee.

I really don't have a problem with that. But my question is is he being paid to be a nominee, or a consultant. If I were to vote for this party, who is going to show up at the White House?

Again, that’s nothing more than a vicious lie.

We’ve been working against Obama all the way back to when it actually cost something personally to do so, thanks.

If you vote for Keyes I can absolutely guarantee that Keyes won't show up at the White House unless it is on a tour.

You are helping Obama by putting this idiot on any ballot.

To date, no one is being paid, least of all Alan Keyes. Your attachment of the loaded word “consultant” to what I said has nothing to do with the reality of the formation of the AIP. Nothing. It’s been as pure grassroots as it gets.

The kind of “consultation” Dr. Keyes has provided to our efforts is of the sort that you yourself could access personally twice a week if you wanted to, when he makes himself available to folks on national conference calls.

Don't you have a McCain rally to attend or something?

OK, post #1 he's the nominee. Post #15 he's " lending his brilliant mind". Post #26, he's the nominee again.

I am dead set against both my mainstream choices this November, but you really need to get your story straight before posting this drivel if you want people to take any kind of look at you.

I'm not saying this to be an a$$hat, I'm telling you this because there's a bunch of people looking around, but this is not the way you want to attract attention.

Couldn’t you find a consultant who has actually won an election? There has got to be an old state legislator or city councilman you can tap into for knowledge.

What pearls of wisdom has fifty time loser Keyes offered the George Wallace Party?

I already voted for Keyes and against McCain this election.

Now I will be casting my vote for McCain who is in position to actually defeat Obama. No other party’s candidate has that level of support or funding.

We saw what the media did to shut other voices out of the primary debates. If your candidate isn’t in Obama’s two sanctioned presidential debates, your presidential candidate won’t get the majority of votes on election day 2008.

For lower offices, vote whatever party or candidate you want. The GOP already has accepted congressional defeat in November.

Well, if that isn’t your intention, you’re failing to implement that intent.

It’s really not that complicated, as I’ve explained in detail already.

Read more carefully, and then get back to me.
