Jindal: I will not be McCain's VP
CNN ^ | July 23, 2008

One day after it was revealed that Sen. John McCain was to hold a closed-door meeting with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a Republican, Jindal said Wednesday that there is no way he will fill the bottom half of the GOP presidential ticket.

"I'm not going to be the vice presidential nominee or vice president," Jindal told Fox News. "I'm going to help Sen. McCain get elected as governor of Louisiana."

"Let me be clear: I have said in every private and public conversation, I've got the job that I want," Jindal said.

It's not uncommon for those being considered for a slot on the presidential ticket to deny interest in the position, but Jindal's blanket statement is notable, especially in light of the fact that he is widely considered to be on McCain's shortlist.

It also came as the two men were scheduled to sit down at a private meeting the McCain campaign refused to discuss. On Wednesday afternoon, the meeting was postponed due to weather.

Speculation swirled around Jindal this summer when he was one of a handful of politicians McCain invited to his Sedona, Arizona, ranch. The long weekend was described as purely social, though former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist were also in attendance.

Jindal is considered a rising star of sorts in the Republican Party and has been lauded by several conservatives wary of McCain, including talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh.

It'll be Romney, Ridge or Liebermann.

Fred Smith, CEO FedEx, was also at that meeting. Long time McCain supporter.

I like Bobby Jindal WAY too much to want him running with McCain. He’s most likely gonna be our go-to guy, maybe as early as 2012. I’ve seen the future of the conservative movement and it IS Bobby Jindal.

I am for keeping Jindal in the bullpen. He has a bright future. Let him run on his own terms.

I hope it is Romney. He would be the best choice. I love Governor Jindal, but his time will come. He is a great conservative and after he cleans up Lousiana he will be in line for higher office. He would get my vote in a heartbeat!

"...yawn get lost loser.."

Is that directed at me or Governor Jindal?

The best decision for Jindal and McCain, I think.

The Republicans have had all kinds of bright, young stars in recent decades. And then they disappear. What’s up with that?

Agreed. Jindal has to get some REAL experience under his belt before he goes to the next level. Unlike some Senators, who (aided by the MSM) want to leapfrog from state legislator to President in 4 short years.

They ended up in a republican controlled congress run by the country clubbers and turn soft. Look at Lindsay graham, He was a tough in the house impeachment fight and who would have ever thought he would have turned out to be such a shitty senator. senators like hagel and mcain got to him.

Plus, if Jindal runs with McCain and McCain loses, it brands Jindal as a loser. Jindal is the best card we have in the deck and we need to wait until the time is right to play it.
