Obama incorrectly claims membership of Senate committee (Meglomaniac Gaffe Alert)

(CNN) – Responding to an Israeli reporter’s question Wednesday on his commitment to protect the Jewish state, Barack Obama pointed to a bill “we passed” in the U.S. Senate Banking Committee that tightens sanctions and authorizes divestment from Iran. “My committee,” he called it.

Except that he isn’t a member of the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

“Just this past week, we passed out of the out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee - which is my committee - a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon,” Obama said at a press conference in Sderot, Israel.

He's learned how to game the system from the inconsequential to the consequential. His wife is “real”. Senator Obama has learned a lot from his grandparents and his mother who were all in love with the child of their hopes and dreams. What the kid got from all that love and care is that he is the center of the universe. What his mother failed to provide him was the stability of a father who would have given him the grounded confidence of the real world.

He clearly marches to the beat of a different authority. He has no idea that he really has to “earn” that Presidential Seal BEFORE he flashes it. He seems to have things a bit out of order in most of what he has gaffed on, because he hasn't really earned the background. He's a gifted pitchman which is all the left wants at this point.

I agree. I can write off a lot of the mis-statements on the campaign trail as a side effect of fatigue, but he took it a step further by *emphasizing* his supposed role by claiming it as ‘my committee.’

That’s not just a mistake. Its deliberately misleading.

The man has no shame or he doesn’t know what the hell he is doing in the Senate. Or it could be both. Don’t matter what it is he doesn’t deserve to be a president. And if McCain would have committed a gaffe like this they MSM would be all over him. It is just shameful what this guy can get away with.

Indeed. Whether or not he is on that committee is not something he would be confused about. The “we” part maybe - he could have been referring to the Senate itself, but when he emphasized “my committee” - it is difficult conclude anything other than dishonesty.

It isn’t so much that Obama is a member of the committee, it’s that the committee should be grateful to be a member of Obama.

I think I'm finally seeing Obama's election gameplan. Commit as many obvious gaffes in as short a period of time as possible during the last few months before the election, and by Nov 4th, the electorate will be desensitized to the incredible volume of gaffes he makes.

It's like violence in the news: See it happen enough times, and after awhile, you don't even blink an eye.

He's a shrewd little gaffe machine, that Obama.
