The comedy director who gave us such immortal movie lines as Oh stewardess, I speak jive and Dont call me Shirley is now leveling his sights at documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.
David Zucker, the director and writer who helped create Airplane! and The Naked Gun franchise has called on Hollywoods tiny but tightly knit Republican A-list crowd to help him make a broad yet unusually right-leaning political satire titled An American Carol.
The low-budget indie co-stars Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer with Oscar-winner Jon Voight, cinema icon Dennis Hopper, model-heiress Paris Hilton and frequent Zucker stooge Leslie Nielsen in minor roles. Release is planned sometime by years end; the director suggested Friday, Sept. 12, to coincide with the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Zucker and his associates have been keeping the film under fairly tight wraps for months. When hyping the usual casting updates to showbiz trades, those associated with the production would only describe the movie as a spoof of A Christmas Carol and contemporary American culture, avoiding any mention of its political perspective.
Zucker had, however, mentioned the project to a handful of reporters and talk radio hosts, telling one columnist at the Wisconsin State Journal, It outdoes any movie I have ever done in tasteless, offensive, un-PC humor.

I saw something about this movie. Wasn't that the gist of an old Popeye cartoon? Talk about lack of originality...
Hopefully for him this will be easy. It’s not like there’s a shortage of material for him to use.

Number 7...Not so much!
“(new conservative comedy blasting Michael Moore)”
Like shooting fish in a barrel, but I like it!!
He and his brother had their offices in the same building where I worked....nice guy who loved to shoot the breeze about his electric car, which was his passion at the time.
All he had to do was film ONE day at the Capitol filming Dimocraps in Washington to make this movie.
...is no longer around to play Mikey.
I saw “Mongol”. Great cinemetography, costumes, good acting. As for the history, they got the camels right.
You've never seen Team America! Awesome theme song.
I was dragged to The Dark Knight by my girlfriend, didn’t want to go. With all the hype about Ledger’s overdose and the usual Hollywood BS about his Oscar deserving performance..... yuk
One of the most entertaining movies that I have seen in a long, long time with some fine performances especially Gary Oldman. Just don’t know how they cast Gyllenhall, looks like her septal cartilage is fading so fast she almost has a pig face on closeups.
When’s the Hulagu Khan movie coming out? He sacked Baghdad and wasted the Assassin’s Cult which was holed up in the mountains
Hulagu was G’s grandson

septal cartilage..... What a shame how can people snort that crap? They need more immersion in illusion than they can get as an actor?
His brother, Kevin Farley, is playing Mikey.
That’s as may be, but apparently he doesn’t understand that September 11 =/= September 12.
“Release is planned sometime by years end; the director suggested Friday, Sept. 12, to coincide with the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.”
As for Hulegu, who knows? You have the first Muzzie terrorists [the Assassins], the first visit to Bagdhad by Mongols [they have some troops there now - with us], and the first splits in the Mongol Empire [the Muslim Berke, brother of Batu, and Khan of the Golden Horde vs. Hulegu], and Arik Boka vs. Kubilai for supreme rule [both were Hulrgu’s, as well as Mongke Kha Khan's brothers]. It would make a hell of a flick.
But not as good as Sabotai’s conquest of Russia, and invasion of Eastern Europe in 1241-1242 against a divided West [sound familiar?]. THAT was the greatest campaign in military history. But then again, Sabotai is history's greatest general.
.....4 years too late, but better late than never I suppose...without Bush to rail against, Moore is only half the moron he once was....he actually seems to have a lower profile these days...I think the Dems told him to take it down a notch or two...some Dems feel he hurt the party 4 years ago.
...the guy Zucker needs to go after is Black Jesus himself...help the GOP by doing McCain TV commercials...that way he could make a difference...Michael Moore is simply not the high value target he once was.....bottom line: the movie flops...even in limited distribution.
I haven’t seen it in it’s entirety, but I have seen all episodes of South Park, as well as Cannibal: The Musical and Baseketball.
