Novak: All Things Considered, I Screwed Up

Robert NovakTMZ just spoke with Robert Novak, and one thing is clear..... National Public Radio is extremely hazardous to pedestrians, especially the one he mowed down in D.C. this morning.
Novak tells us he was listening to NPR in his Corvette when suddenly, “Some guy came up and hit my car with his fist. I figured I had done something that had created road rage, but I didn’t know what it was. Then a bicyclist blocked the road in front of me. I asked what the problem was. He said, ‘You can’t just hit people and run away.’”
Novak says the cops came, put in “briefly” in the back of the police car and asked about what he heard at the time of impact. Novak told them and reiterated to us, he didn’t hear anything and didn’t feel anything. They asked if he had been drinking or on a cellphone and he answered “no” to both.
Novak, who was citied for failing to yield, says he won’t fight the ticket, adding, “I assume witnesses are telling the truth.”
And we asked him about his comments back in 2001, that he hates jaywalkers and thunk about running the over. To that he told us, “I’ve said a lot of things I shouldn’t have said.”
As for reports that he’s an aggressive driver, he says, “I’m 77 years old. I’m not aggressive anymore.”
And finally, driving a vette. “I’ve been driving Corvettes since 1961.” Ride on.
Okay somebody help me out with my memory. During the 2000 runoff debacle, a reporter (I can’t remember who) hit someone with their car. I think it happened in Tallahassee. Who was it?
77 year-old man + Aggressive driving + Corvette = Disaster waiting to happen.
ambien?
and so far, he's only been cited for “failure to yield” = must be nice to have connections...You bounce someone off your windshield and you 'didn't see him' - you flee and it's not hit run...
Wow. The article doesn’t reflect well on Novak. It seems he was trying to leave the scene, also known as a hit and run. I’m trying hard to give him the benefit of the doubt- yet it’s hard to imagine having a person on a bicycle on your windshield and not notice it...
I like Novak, but you just don’t go around running over people. Sounds like some serious jail time and intensive anger management classes are in order.
That is OK with me. I'm rather aggressive myself except that I always obey the rules, unless of course the reference is to the ridiculous speed limits on highways.
I hope it was the guy who gave him the McCain VP story.
Hey it’s not like anyone drowned.

If I remember right, they were zooming along on the way to or fro an airport (?)

I just hope the vette is ok. I have even more respect for Novak now,
