Novak, 77, has earned a reputation around the capital as an aggressive driver, easily identified in his convertible sports car.

In 2001, the longtime political columnist cursed at a pedestrian on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 13th Street N.W., for allegedly jaywalking.

“’Learn to read the signs, [bodily orifice]!’ Novak snapped before speeding away,” according to an item in The Washington Post’s Reliable Source column.

In DC, people are notorious for jaywalking or simply walking out into the street without looking, any number of which are actually looking to get hit so that they can cash in on a big insurance settlement (if they survive!).

This is a non-story.

It appears that Novak has an anger management problem.

If eternal justice could be had here in the temporal, then the pedestrian would have been Helen Thomas.

I saw Mr. Novak tee off on a gate attendant once at the airport. I was stunned by the ferocity of his outburst.

I told him to take it easy on the lady, and he glared at me.

To which I responded, “oooooh.”

What a putz.

I like Novak, read his recent book and hope everyone is fine.
The guy kicks butt and does the real work of journalists that almost none do.

And he was completely right on the Plame game.

We visited DC in Feb.
Pedestrians are constantly stepping out into the streets.
The law gives them the right of way, but it’s difficult to have quick enough reaction to keep from hitting them.

I remember their local news was talking about a sharp increase in accidents with pedestrians.

I think it would be VERY EASY to be involved in this type of accident in DC.

Sounds a bit like (CNN) Jack Cafferty’s hit-and-run incident in NY in which he mowed down a cyclist and drove through several red lights with the guy’s bike wedged under his Cadillac and then claimed not to have realized that anything had happened.

Aw, I have a soft spot in my head for Novak. Whether or not you agree with every word he's ever written over the decades, he's paid his a goodly amount of dues to the conservative side.

However, at his age, he should hire a designated driver to tool him around the mean streets of DC. He certainly should have the money by now to do so.

I didn’t know I hit him.

Admit it, Novak, you couldn't see above the dashboard.
