He probably just panicked. Thought he might have just run over a large dog or deer.
None of us know how we would react in such a predicament.
I hope his Corvette wasn’t damaged too badly . .
I like Novak, but you just don’t go around running over people. Sounds like some serious jail time and intensive anger management classes are in order.
In the interest of open and honest discussion, many many moons ago, I was once given a free ride to the pokey for an infraction I may or may not have committed. I was also offered a seat up front with the nice officer. And no, I was never offered a pair of shiney new bracelets, either.
So, I personally cannot agree with your statement.
Novak says the cops came, put in briefly in the back of the police car and asked about what he heard at the time of impact. Novak told them and reiterated to us, he didnt hear anything and didnt feel anything. They asked if he had been drinking or on a cellphone and he answered no to both.
Novak, who was citied for failing to yield, says he wont fight the ticket, adding, I assume witnesses are telling the truth.
Seems to me by that last statement that Novak knows what happened, but he will not admit it? But then again, if he is so far out of it and does not know what happened, then why is he still driving?
Going back through the comments it seems that even some of us who did read didn’t get the story right.
I would love to see a story where the reporter concentrated on the details more than the personalities.
Wonder if they will follow up on the 66 yr old in hospital?
No reasons the dems should have all the fun.
But was he was crossing against the flashing "Don't Walk" signal? The "green light" tells us nothing.

There are videos here of interviews with Novak after the incident. He appears shaken up and...vague?
All sorts of way, I'm sure. None of which are coming to mind at the moment, but... wait! Dementia. Plus,...
I'm sure there are others. Anyone? Anyone?
The only things I can think of are those you mentioned; plus dementia, and "I don't have to stop for the little people" disease.
I don’t know - this is wild speculation on my part - but in DC? Someone might just be staging this as a way to get you to pull over for a carjacking or a robbery. And if it was a person failing across the fender and placing hands against the windshield and being pushed back up onto his/her feet by the force of the car... I don’t know - no one could know based on this written information. On K street I would suspect there are security cameras and red light monitors that may have picked it up. I’m not willing to condemn his driving based on the sketchy description here. I think Paul Newman was kicking ass and taking names in Lime Rock last year at 82, so it’s not impossible.
From the article:Bono said that the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a "Walk" signal and was in the crosswalk, rolled off the windshield and that Novak then made a right into the service lane of K Street.
The witness says it was a 'Walk' signal at the time of the incident, not the 'Do Not Walk' signal. I would think that the victim would probably say the same thing. Novak is in trouble over this, but with his money, nothing major will come out of it. Sad, but true.
Fair enough. Lots of people drive like idiots, and don’t pay attention. The same can be said for pedestrians and bicyclists, though.
I see a possible movie... Clymer v. Clymer
Didn't CNN's Jack Cafferty do something similar to a bicyclist a few years back?
Do we know if Novak was on his way to the Country Kitchen Buffet?
