Tuesday, July 22, 2008

If they expected us to retire quietly from the scene, the political elite are in for a surprise.

Today I am making some very big announcements.

First, from August 31 to September 2 in Minneapolis, we will host a handful of events that will shake the political establishment. Everything will culminate on Tuesday with the official launch of the Campaign for Liberty at the Rally for the Republic.

The Campaign for Liberty will be the largest organization for peace, freedom, the Constitution, and sound money in American history. It will launch in grand fashion with lots of special guests and - if the early television and print inquiries we've received are any indication - plenty of media attention.

I would like to personally invite you and your family to join me and thousands of others in Minneapolis for these events and send a message to the Republican Party.

Tickets will go on sale for the Rally for the Republic this Friday, July 25 @ 10AM CST. We want this to be an unforgettable day, so we are holding a ticket bomb all day Friday in the tradition of our famous money bombs. How many seats can we sell on the first day?

In patriotic fashion all tickets will cost $17.76, so you can afford to bring the whole family.

This leads me to the second big announcement. After measuring the excitement and enthusiasm, we decided that the Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota was just too small to hold you. Therefore, we are making a significant upgrade. The Rally for the Republic will now take place at the Target Center, the largest arena in Minneapolis!

This promises to be the most spirited and provocative political event of the year! We held some very large rallies during the presidential campaign, but I have never attempted anything of this scale before. Its success rests entirely in your hands. Later this week I will announce two internationally renowned musicians as headliners for the Rally for the Republic. We'll also be joined by rock star Aimee Allen, NBC's Tucker Carlson, Barry Goldwater Jr., Gov. Gary Johnson, conservative stalwart Grover Norquist, former Reagan deputy Attorney General Bruce Fein, presidential historian Doug Wead, MTV's Adam Curry, musician Mark Scibilia, and Frank Sinatra impersonator Rick Ellis. Other special guests will be announced soon.

My staff has been working overtime to provide you with three full days of entertainment. Please visit the schedule page of the website and read all about upcoming events. We also have a lodging page to help you find accommodations in Minneapolis.

Together we are taking back our government and restoring the republic. Please join me in Minneapolis to kickoff the Campaign for Liberty and support our Revolution. Can I count on you to be there?

In Liberty,

Ron Paul

P.S. I know that you have done so much already, but with both major party nominees threatening to lead us into bankruptcy at home and more wars abroad, the success of the Rally for the Republic and the launch of the Campaign for Liberty is crucial. Please do what you can to be in Minneapolis August 31 - September 2 and send a loud and clear message of freedom, peace, and prosperity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pol. Adv. Paid for by Committee to Re-Elect Ron Paul --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t worry too much about the vitriolic comments aimed at Ron Paul - they just help confirm that my decision to leave the Republican Party was the correct one.

He can do what he wants in Minneapolis.

The convention is over in St. Paul.

Excuse me. You were the one that made the claim that Ron Paul is a truther and you want me to explain why that is a lie. You cannot prove a negative such as this. Why not show some sort of evidence that backs up your claim that he is a truther. Show us something that Paul has said or done that indicates that believes that 9/11 was an inside job. After all, you are the one who made the original claim. So back it up.

You are right, there is a leftward movement.. jeeze, look at how far out of the 'right' quadrant McCain is (from ontheissues.org):

He doesn't even touch the 'Right/Conservative' quadrant. Heck, compare McCain's voting chart to say, Rudy, who no one doubts is a RINO.

Pretty sad when you are a 'Republican' to the left of even Rudy.

He LOST and he has his panties in a bunch and wants to spoil the show because he did not win

He is doing this to help stop the socialist gunk that is poisoning young people's minds - THE JOB THAT REPUBLICANS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING ALL ALONG.

RON PAUL NEEDS TO GROW UP

He has - he is not running on as a 3rd party candidate, so what's your tenderloin? He has not endorsed Bob Barr. He win his House seat again and go back to being Dr. No. He is completely out of the presidential picture, so I don't understand why "FReepers" are bellyaching over him holding a rally to promote liberty.

Then they are no better than anyone who supports Odimbulb.

You really don't get it, do you? As I said - these folks would not have voted for McCain to begin with had Paul not ran anyway as they are a mixture of disgusted conservatives/libertarians and people who are sick of politics and the same-old same-old. If McCain loses, that his entirely his fault and not the supporters of Paul. Funny how Paul's supporters are supposedly racists or anti-war kooks, but if they vote for Paul or stay home, how would that hurt McCain? Shouldn't that hurt Obama?

Tough Sh*t. He still LOST. Crying and whining because the big bad media screwed him over is more befitting some San Francisco blissninny than a man who wants to be considered as a viable candidate to run the country.

Where is he crying or whining? All Paul is doing is holding his own rally. He's not on any presidential ballot or ticket, and he has not endorsed anyone. Where is the sour grapes of Paul you speak of at? He's basically doing the same thing FR and CPAC has done.

Wonderful. Then they should stay the hell home.

OK, they should stay home, but if McCain loses, it's their fault he lost? ROFL.

Me neither, but at the same time it's frustrating. You had someone who was bringing in new people and the libertarians into the GOP and restoring some core principles back into the party, and he gets denounced by the very conservatives who whine about how too far to the left the GOP has shifted. It's mind-numbing insanity.

Oh, I forgot, McCain’s lifetime American Conservative Union rating of 83%, I think that is the lowest of all the options we had.. can you get any lower and still be called a Republican?

LOL! How much to they pay you? Do people actually fall for such things?

Well, I guess that with the good ol’ Department of Education edyookatin’ people these days, many probably don’t realize the way you can get a nice conservative rating by following some rather non-conservative positions.

BTW, why do you support Statism so much?

Now why would you go and support McCain like that? I mean jeeze, against securing the borders, dumps hundreds of millions in pork into the budget, an old time establishment candidate. I thought you where for change and revolution, and there you go trying to defend McAmnesty’s piss poor ACU rating?

Yes. Vote for the non-liberal. You make it sound like you have only two choices. Or, if you want to support the leftward move of the GOP, you could choose to send them the message that they’ll get your vote even if they tack to the left.

There are only two candidates at this moment who have a chance to be VP: McCain & Obumble. SCOTUS seats are likely to open up during the next 4-8 years. You can fight a little battle over the leftward drift of the GOP and lose the war by giving Obama the next 8 years to kill our country. Cripes Heller was 5-4 and it should have been 9-0.

Ron Paul is a freakin’ nut, blaming America for 9/11...he’s strict Constitutionalism is fine but he’s a loon in his presentation of the issues.

Not sure I understand your question except this is his Congressional re-election committee.

No it isn't. The link you provided for this artice is for Ron Paul's 'Campaign for Liberty'.

http://www.campaignforliberty.com

That is not the committee to re-elect Ron Paul. THIS (below) is Paul's congressional re-election committee:

It's mind-numbing stupidity to sit this election out when it is going to be extremely close and SCOTUS seats are on the line. We are but a few key decisions away from losing the entire game and Paul & supporters are off in la-la land having their own little masturbatory consolation picnic. He can darn well have his celebration anywhere and anytime he wants. Like Denver at the end of the month. But no. He wants to have it in St. Paul to, as someone correctly assessed early on, be the turd in the punchbowl spoiler.

Good point. He's nearly as bad as Obama...I agree.

Let's see...this candidate earned delegates and was still getting a substantial portion of the vote in some places even toward the end (e.g., some counties in Pennsylvania were more than 1/4 for Ron Paul)...yet they won't invite him to the party convention?

And now you complain that he's the one being a problem for unity?

Ron Paul is a freakin’ nut

Your opinion, simply not shared by the majority

blaming America for 9/11

Never happened

he’s strict Constitutionalism is fine but he’s a loon in his presentation of the issues.

Because he's not "polished" like today's politicians are? Paul reminds me of that grandfather who gave you the straight dope, the "let's cut the bulls--t" talk when you sat on his knee. He's not articulate but at least he won't BS you either.

It's mind-numbing stupidity to sit this election out when it is going to be extremely close and SCOTUS seats are on the line.

It's mind-numbing stupidity to nominate McCain who has been the Democrat's bestest friend over the past 8 years and all of a sudden "rally" behind him. Seriously, if McCain doesn't pick a decent VP I'm leaving the presidential box blank and voting down-ticket.

We are but a few key decisions away from losing the entire game and Paul & supporters are off in la-la land having their own little masturbatory consolation picnic.

There you go again, I succinctly explained that Paul's supporters are not part of the regular makeup of voters and that the only reason they're participating is because of Paul. Now if you want McCain to earn these votes I suggest he get his campaign in gear and start talking about the real issues killing this country instead of the same-old BS we hear every four years. You should also stop denigrating these people - it makes no sense to trash the very people that you need their votes for.

He L-O-S-T I wouldn't invite him to the party convention either. You won't see Romney or Giuliani or Thompson or Huckabee or any of the other candidates pimping their personal agendas at a PARTY convention. He is doing this because he damn well knows the media will eat anything up that diminishes the GOP (or ANY Obama opponents, to be more accurate) It's the selfish whining of someone who is all butthurt because he feels cheated, and he wants to spoil the fun because he is:
