In his first press conference about his tour of Afghanistan and Iraq, Barack Obama declared today that there is growing support for his plan -- to redeploy US troops from Iraq and ramp up forces in Afghanistan.
Repeating that Afghanistan and the border region with Pakistan represents the "central front in the war on terrorism," he said the United States cannot wait to send more forces there. "The situation in Afghanistan is urgent and perilous," he said, with the historic Citadel overlooking Amman, Jordan as his backdrop.
Both he and Republican rival John McCain are calling for sending thousands more US troops to fight the rebuilding Taliban and remnants of al Qaeda. Afghan President Hamid Karzai also told Obama that more security forces are needed.

ALL HAIL OBAMA!!!
Would you want to go to war under a President like Obama who doesn’t have a clue when it comes military tactics? Look what happened under Carter. Look what happened under Clinton in Somalia (Black Hawk down come to mind?) Over 2000 officers resigned their commissions under Clinton. Great way to protect our country.
What a dumb ass! The withdrawal of troops have been in the planning stages for months now and troops are already coming home.
...”Barack Obama declared today that there is growing support for his plan...”
And this growing support is coming from where?
My son is going back to Iraq in September. I have an intense and vested interest Obama not being his commander in chief. It is a sickening thought to have someone of his arrogance and naivete as CIC.
His plan? I thought it was President Bush and the Pentagon who announced a few days ago that some of the surge troops would be moved from Iraq to Afghanistan.
I guess they must have read Obama’s mind.
The media and al qeada,
Obama if the surge didn't work in iraq how will sending more troops to afghanistan help there?
