McCain: Will end dependence on foreign oil
(NECN: South Portland, Maine) - Senator John McCain attended a picnic at the Maine Military Museum in South Portland, Maine on Monday.
"Everybody here knows what has happened to a gallon of gas, our lowest income Americans are hurting the most, some of them can't even get to work," said the Republican presidential candidate.
"We are sending $700 billion a year to countries that don't like us very much and some of that money ends up in the hands of terrorist organizations. I will end this dependence on foreign oil," said McCain.
Good news, oil has dropped another $4 on easing of hurricane worries in the Gulf of Mexico. See this link to follow the changing oil futures market:

It will take an effort like the Apollo Project to “end our dependence on foreign oil” in 4 years. Articulated vision from the President, repeated use of bully pulpit, total mobilization by the private sector, tax incentives and suspension of onerous regulation by government.
OK senator, put in the legislation to remove all the government burdens and taxes and have your buddies in the senate vote for it.
Totally agree that we’re sending hundreds of billions to nations ranging from marginal friends to enemies. Should have delt with this a score ago...

“Does Juan still oppose opening up ANWR?”
The last I heard he was.
And, another critical question: Does Juan still think the decision about offshore drilling should be left to the states? He did as of June 18:
“But with McCain’s switch to a proposal that would let states decide whether to allow drilling off their shores, Crist says he would consider it.”

Juan has a long way to go to end our dependence on foreign crude. He’s also talking tax credits for electrical cars, and more about alternatives than opening up all promising areas to exploration and drilling.
When McCain comes out strongly for drilling in ANWR, then I’ll believe him.
It will take generations to end dependence on foreign oil.
Does Obama favor opening any drilling?? We have 2 choices, make one.
If you like $5/gal, Thank Congress. If you want $10, Vote Obama.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Not with merely drilling offshore and IF the states involved will allow it. Pure political hyperbole by another globull warming liberal. Drill ANWR, suck the oil shales dry. Drill anywhere and everywhere and increase our refinery capacity by 500%. Otherwise it's just the same tired old crapola McCain is spewing.
OK I’m all for drilling here, now, and paying less. But lets keep our facts straight. We don’t pay $700 billion to Arabs each year for oil. Most of our foreign oil comes from Canada, so they get most of the money that Windmill Pickens is talking about.
I suspect he’ll (at least) soften his position towards ‘pro ANWR’ drilling.
