Tony Snow may be gone, but his legacy will live on in The Villages.
The Buffalo Scholarship Foundation established a fund in his name
to be awarded to graduates of The
Villages High School.
The scholarship is just really heartwarming for us. What a wonderful way to commemorate someones life and what an example it represents, said John Davis, a member of the foundations board of directors.
An anonymous donor contributed $20,000 to the Tony Snow scholarship fund; all scholarships presented from these donations will be done in Snows name.
The most important part of the scholarship is the significance of the money, Davis said.
For any of us, particularly students, what greater role model did we have than the life that Tony Snow had? Davis said. Can we aspire to it? Yes.
Snow had close ties to the school, even speaking at The Villages Lifelong Learning College several years ago.
Tonys dad, Jim, is a lifelong educator and was one of the first residents I remember touring our school after it opened, and Jim thought it was a most appropriate way to honor him here in his adopted hometown, Gary Lester, school board president for The Villages Charter School, said.
So, to now establish a scholarship for charter school students in Tonys name is most appropriate.
Snows life provided a powerful example for charter school students, said director of education Randy McDaniel, who also serves as a board member of the scholarship foundation.
People who didnt agree with him seemed to like him, McDaniel said. I think that portrays a great message to our students. You can disagree, but not be disagreeable.
Any one of Snows pursuits could inspire students, whether they are interested in music, politics or journalism, McDaniel added.
He was an accomplished musician, he was well educated, he had a great wit, he had a lot of talent in a lot of different areas (and) he was not afraid of a tough conversation, he said.
Although scholarship qualifications have not yet been determined, the scholarship is expected to be awarded annually.
To donate to the Tony Snow scholarship fund, call McDaniel at 259-2350.

Good! Kos is a plague.
I agree, but nancy pelosi just issued a statement that she thinks scholarships are a dumb idea because they won’t even graduate for 4 years
Wonder how you go about establishing a memorial fund? My son just passed away last month in Australia and want to do the same....any ideas? See jeremyearnshaw.com
Ooh ... so sorry for your terrible loss.
Did he live in Australia? If he was
involved in a Christian ministry, I would
assume the organizations with whom he worked
could give you suggestions. God be with you.
Sincere condolances on the loss of your son. God bless.
I’m so very sorry for your loss.
Oh, my dear, I am so sorry.
I’m very sorry for the passing of your son, LadyYak.
May God comfort you and give you the peace that
only He can give.

Regarding a memorial fund, check with your lawyer and
or your local bank for procedures as to how to set up a
memorial fund.

He worked with Youth With a Mission at the Newcastle Base. He was on his day off and walking on some rocks when a rogue wave washed them both into the sea. Check out jeremyearnshaw.com...and thanks for the kind words.
(((hugs)))
Beautiful ................... sniff*

Oh my.
Tonight as I was posting on the threads about the House GOP tomorrow and what our guys did on Friday in the House I kept thinking of Tony- how much he would LOVE this. I can’ just hear him..something like “Isn’t this just GREAT? How about those Congressmen”?
We miss you Tony, think of you and our prayers continue for your Jill and kids...
I know .... he’d be right in
the thick of it .. and tickled
pink at democracy in action.
God be with his dear family.
My favorite memory of Tony is in my mom’s kitchen...she’d be busy with her sauce, making meatballs and Tony would be on Fox News Sunday in the background. I hope this scholarship is the first of many honoring Tony.
